Engagement Librarian

Full Time, Contract Based Position

Reports To: University Librarian

Campus Location: 326 Market St.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education and is grant-funded for the duration of the award, currently expected to be up to five (5) years, contingent upon continued funding.

The Engagement Librarian leads strategic outreach efforts to support teaching, learning, and research in mathematics and STEM-related disciplines. This role builds strong relationships with faculty, students, and campus partners to increase awareness and use of library resources, services, and expertise, with a particular focus on students who are underprepared in mathematics. The Engagement Librarian also coordinates the library's participation in Open Educational Resources (OER) initiatives and oversees inclusive belonging spaces that foster community, support student success, and promote equitable access to learning resources.

This position follows standard business hours with occasional evening and weekend work required. The role is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Build and sustain collaborative partnerships with faculty, academic departments, research centers, and student support units to integrate library instruction, research skills, and information literacy into math and STEM curricula.
  • Design and deliver math and STEM-focused workshops, events, and programming that support student success and research literacy.
  • Create online guides and interactive tutorials to support student learning.
  • Collect and analyze data and feedback to refine outreach strategies and demonstrate program impact, particularly for grant reporting.
  • Provide research assistance.
  • Represent the library at orientations, research events, and other university initiatives.
  • Contribute to the achievement of library goals, including new program implementation and improvement of existing services.
  • Ability to use and customize library-related software such as the LibApps suite and Digital Commons.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s of Library Science from an ALA accredited program or equivalent.
  • Two years of professional library experience post MLS.
