Description

Licensed Psychiatric Technician LPT

Our inpatient facility houses 16 clients who receive specialized and personal care from our staff. Our beautiful, facility is located on 15 acres in Bangor, CA. We strive to assist our American Veterans with their addiction and mental health recovery. Our second location is our neighboring mental health facility with 6 beds. Our clients come to us voluntarily and can usually perform their own ADLs. Please check out our beautiful and growing company!

Job Description:

Description: The Licensed Psychiatric Technician (PT) is responsible for working closely with all staff and the Medical Director and following through with orders provided for patients at the facility. The LPT will obtain test results and check patient’s vitals on a set schedule. The individual will oversee the Med Technician functions and performance while providing services to patients in detox from substance use or ensure any other medication regime from a physician is performed as they reside in treatment. The LPT will be responsible for checking patient’s withdrawal symptoms as well and reporting to the program director, or assignee, and medical director. As an LPT at the facility, you will monitor all patient administered medications throughout the day while keeping documentation for those patients. The documentation must meet the needs of the doctor as well as meet the standards of the state health codes. The LPT needs to record all medications, vital signs, and any information that will assist the doctor to make any important decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of patient care.
  • Provides outstanding, individualized resident care and medical support to clients as needed.
  • Prepare and review medical records and nurses' notes to evaluate the resident's physical and emotional status.
  • Provide care according to the Physician's orders, care plans, established standards, policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and monitor patient administered medications as ordered by the physician in accordance with nursing standards and facility policies.
  • Monitors and reports adverse reactions to medications and treatment to the RN and/or Physician.
  • Sign, date and perform all charting, record keeping and care plans in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes good infection control procedures. Utilizes behavioral management and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Ensures compliance with State licensing standards and accreditation standards
  • Adheres to and upholds the policies and procedures of the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Current Psychiatric Technician (PT) license
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Expert communication skills and counseling abilities
  • Ability to coordinate with professionals from diverse backgrounds, working at distinct levels
  • Commitment to the philosophy of recovery and continuity of the program and of consideration and respect of clients.
  • Customer service oriented, professional attitude

Work Environment:

  • Office and Health care setting with clients and other employees present.
  • Working indoors and outdoors occasionally.
  • Working in close proximity to others
  • May walk on slippery and uneven walking surfaces
  • Exposure to offensive odors
  • Working with frequent interruptions.
  • Typical office and group counseling environment.
  • Mostly indoor office environment with windows and lights.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged standing for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Assisting clients as needed

Travel Required:

  • Ability to travel to various offices or facility locations

Qualifications

Required education and experience:

  • Current Psychiatric Technician (PT) license
  • Possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Familiar with HIPAA/client confidentiality and personal rights.
  • Possess CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Current TB test and health screen

Work authorization/security clearance requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License
