RN CH: RN Charge at Willis-Knighton Health System – Shreveport, Louisiana

This 27-bed Stepdown unit is an Intermediate Care Unit that monitors and cares for moderately stable patients. It offers a challenging and fast-paced environment for the motivated professional. The patients admitted to this unit may require titrating drips, post-cardiac catheterization, post-TPA infusions and invasive monitoring. Typically, a higher level of care than the average medical/surgical patient, but they will not require admission to the Intensive Care Unit. The lower nurse-to-patient ratio of 3:1 allows the nurse to collaborate with the healthcare delivery team, the patients, and their families for a coordinated plan of care. Support staff is available on this unit to maximize and compliment the team. The RN must have 2 years of experience in the intermediate/critical care area. The charge nurse position requires the RN to coordinate nursing care for the patients on the unit, including making assignments, crash cart checks, patient logs and other assigned tasks. The RN needs to exhibit a sense of accountability through attendance, promptness and a role model for work activities. A positive attitude and good work ethic are encouraged to be a part of this team!
