Job Description
PURPOSE STATEMENT
Operate x-ray equipment to perform digital x-rays as ordered by provider. Perform Dexa scans as ordered by provider. Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight and height. Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician. Record patients’ medical history, vital statistics, and information such as test results in medical records. Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens and prepare them for testing. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and providers’ instructions to patients. Help physicians examine and treat patients, hand them instruments and materials or perform such tasks as application of casts and splints and removing sutures. Prepare treatment rooms for examinations, keeping the room neat and clean. Clean instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. Schedule appointments for patients. Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests and/or admission or obtain medical records. Perform general office duties such as answering telephones, inventory and ordering medical, lab and office supplies and equipment. And any other duties that may not be listed. Busy Orthopedic/sports medicine practice with 4 full-time physicians.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform digital x-rays.
- Perform Dexa scans.
- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Ensure the room is properly cleaned and stocked.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other essential duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
- Registry from the ARRT in Radiology required.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Organizational Skills.
- Computer experience.
- Must work well under pressure.
- Ability to communicate well with people both in person and on the phone.
- Effectively act as a liaison between patients and providers.
- Must adhere to HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Medical terminology.
- Typing skills.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to sit and stand intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
- Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
- Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
- Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
- Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
- Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
