Job Summary:A Villages Prep Special Education Teacher works to provide an individualized and adaptive learning environment for students with special needs. They design, implement, and evaluate teaching strategies and techniques to help students achieve their educational goals, while fostering social and emotional growth. The Villages Prep teacher collaborates with parents, school staff, and other professionals to ensure each child’s success.

Key Responsibilities:

    Ability to Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs):

      Work with school staff, parents, specialists, and district personnel to create IEPs that set goals for the student’s academic, social, and emotional development.

      Regularly review and update IEPs to reflect the student’s progress.

    Provide Direct Instruction:

      Deliver lessons and activities designed to support the students’ learning, using specialized techniques and materials to suit various learning abilities.

      Use differentiated instruction to address individual learning styles and needs.

    Behavioral and Emotional Support:

      Implement strategies to manage classroom behavior and create a supportive, safe learning environment.

      Work with students on social skills and emotional regulation.

    Assess Student Progress:

      Use formal and informal assessments to track academic and behavioral progress.

      Provide feedback to students, parents, and administrators on student performance.

    Collaborate with Team Members:

      Work closely with referring district general education teachers, school counselors, administrators, and specialists to support student needs.

      Participate in IEP meetings and work with parents to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.

    Document and Maintain Records:

      Keep accurate records of student progress, attendance, behavior, and any incidents or concerns.

      Submit required reports and updates on IEP progress as per district or state guidelines.

This position is assigned to the 2026–2027 academic school year, aligned with the program calendar.

Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education (or a related field). A Master's degree is often preferred.

    Licensure/Certification: CA Special Education Teacher Specialist Credential.
