Primary Responsibilities
Utilization of AI
- Workflow Optimization: Identify repetitive manual tasks within the accounting cycle and research AI tools or "low code" solutions to streamline them.
- Data Cleaning: Prepare and scrub datasets to ensure high-quality "input" for AI processing, focusing on consistency in naming conventions and categorization.
Reconciliations & Analysis
- Automated Recon Oversight: Monitor bank feeds, investigating any breaks, inconsistencies, or discrepancies in GL coding.
- Intercompany Reconciliations: Assist in matching transactions between different business units, ensuring that internal "due to/due from" accounts net to zero.
- Balance Sheet Substantiation: Perform monthly reconciliations for low-to-medium risk accounts (e.g., Prepaid Expenses, Petty Cash) to ensure ending balances are supported by documentation.
- Anomaly Detection: Use data visualization tools or AI alerts to spot unusual trends that require further investigation.
General Accounting Support
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Support the full cycle by verifying invoice accuracy, coding expenses to the correct GL accounts, and assisting with collections follow-ups.
- Month-End Close Support: Assist the senior accounting team with journal entry preparation and gathering supporting schedules for the month-end reporting package.
- Ad-hoc Reporting: Create basic financial dashboards or Excel models to help the team visualize KPIs or departmental spending.
