Job Description

Lead Analyst, Functional Applications

Location: Remote (Leesburg / Allendale)
Company: VB Spine

Looking for a career where your work truly matters? At VB Spine, you’ll be part of a mission-focused team that supports surgeons during life-changing spinal procedures. We’re looking for driven individuals ready to learn quickly, adapt under pressure, and grow in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The Lead Analyst, Functional Applications, will own application lifecycle management for multiple business functions at VB Spine. This role brings central ownership to the application portfolio of numerous global business functions including Human Resources, Legal, Finance, and Marketing. This role ensures that technology initiatives are prioritized, resourced, and delivered in alignment with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and financial targets. Working closely with IT and business leaders, this role brings structure, transparency, and predictability to technology delivery in a fast-paced MedTech environment.

Reporting to the Manager of Functional Applications, this individual will oversee the full application lifecycle, including standing up new tools, finding opportunities to rationalize redundancies, optimizing existing platforms, and sunsetting tools that no longer provide value to the organization. The Lead Analyst will partner closely with the IT organization, serve as a strategic partner to the business ensuring our application landscape aligns with business objectives, is cost effective, and scalable as VB Spine Matures, and liaise with vendors of the various applications. This individual will ensure seamless coordination across all teams in the VB Spine organization. As a global organization, this role will require collaboration across multiple regions.

This role is for you if are proactive (you see gaps and fill them rather than waiting for direction) and enjoy working in an “build it” environment (think startup or divestitures). You will excel in this role if you are organized, enjoy running projects, are comfortable balancing speed with structure, can make decisions with imperfect information, and are adept at asking thoughtful questions.

What You’ll Do:

Application Lifecycle Management

  • Maintain and evolve the global functional application portfolio across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Human Resources (primarily SaaS applications)
  • Lead evaluation, selection, and implementation of new applications, including requirements gathering, vendor assessment, and solution design
  • Define and execute application rationalization strategies, identifying opportunities to consolidate, retire, or replace redundant or outdated systems to reduce complexity and cost
  • Drive continuous improvement of the application portfolio to enhance usability, performance, and business value
  • Lead structured decommissioning of legacy applications, including data migration, user communications, and documentation

Integration & Technical Support

  • Partner with IT and vendors on integrations (APIs, data integrations, SSO, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate resolution across technical and business teams
  • Support data governance and ensure consistency, integrity, and alignment across integrated systems
  • Own application configuration, user administration, and governance across platforms
  • Manage applications through the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including build/configuration, testing, deployment, enhancement, release management, and ongoing optimization
  • Collaborate with IT and stakeholders to ensure smooth deployment and ongoing stability of integrations and system enhancements

Vendor & Contract Management

  • Own vendor relationships for assigned applications: renewals, escalations, roadmaps, and SLA accountability
  • Negotiate contracts and licensing terms in partnership with IT leadership and Legal teams
  • Proactively surface cost optimization and consolidation opportunities, especially in preparation for contract renewals
  • Evaluate make vs buy decisions and build recommendations for leadership

Stakeholder Enablement & Governance

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business functional owners, IT, and vendors; translate business needs into application requirements
  • Develop and maintain application documentation and training materials
  • Establish and adhere to governance processes for application requests, change management, and application access
  • Produce regular reporting on application health, utilization, spend, and lifecycle status for IT and business leadership
  • Build a strong relationship across the various functions that you will serve; you are a strategic consultant and advisor for the business when it comes to their technology needs

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business Administration, or related field
  • Certifications in ITIL, PMP, or related disciplines are strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years dof experience in business applications, IT business analytics, or related role
  • Experience operating in regulated environments (medical device or life sciences strongly preferred).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated success in leading technology transformations during mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience managing end-to-end SaaS application implementations
  • Familiarity with enterprise integrations: SSO, REST APIs, data mapping, webhook-based trigers

Physical & mental requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Occasional travel to company site and vendor locations may be required.
