SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse in home health provides one on one skilled nursing care and treatment to patients in their homes using a comprehensive and patient specific care plan. This position will have the opportunity to spend quality time with the patient, in the patient’s home, to promote health and independence; have autonomy in addition to the support and collaboration of a full team of healthcare professionals while managing a case load; maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations and agency policies; and provide accurate documentation and follow-up of patient findings to provide optimal patient outcomes. Adaptability is essential for the home health RN, as work schedule and daily work load change frequently to meet patient needs. Acute medical surgical experience and outstanding critical thinking skills are needed to meet the needs of the patient.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. ADN required, BSN or MSN preferred.
Licensure: Current Arkansas or Compact State RN license in good standing. Valid and clean Driver’s License, reliable transportation and agency required liability insurance to complete home visits. Active personal automobile liability insurance coverage consisting of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident for bodily injury required.
Experience: Minimum of one year acute care nursing experience required. Previous nursing experience in a medical-surgical environment preferred.
Certifications: BLS required
Other: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively. Basic computer knowledge required. Driving required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to solve problems and make decisions. Ability to stand and walk, bend, squat and twist up to or exceeding 8 to12 hours during shift(s). Occasionally requires lifting of 50 pounds or more of equipment and lifts patients with assist 125 pounds or more with proper body mechanics. Able to push in excess of 150 pound wheelchair with patient and equipment using proper body mechanics. Spends eight hours or more in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse. Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations of CPR and obtaining equipment. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure. Has a keen sense of hearing and visual acuity to respond to critical changing patient situations from actual observations. May be subject to inside environmental conditions, hazards (including electrical currents and exposure to high heat and chemicals) and infectious diseases.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a position outside of the hospital setting, which is open 24hours a day, 365 days per year. Holidays and work during inclement weather will be required. Work hours will occasional exceed the normal work hours of 8am to 5pm. On-call/Back-up Call responsibilities is shared among all full time nursing staff.
