Registered Nurse (RN) Staff - ICU / CVICU

ICU/CSICU Registered Nurse (RN)

$2,500 - $10,000 Sign on Bonus! Conditions may apply.

We welcome you to our unit by providing educational enhancements and a comprehensive orientation to ensure you are prepared to care for those who entrust us with their care. Our 17-bed ICU/CSICU is home to highly-trained staff who care for a wide-range of patients (neonates to geriatrics) and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. We provide care for cardiovascular patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass grafting, thoracotomy, carotid stenting, heart valve replacement or repair, as well as a variety of other vascular related interventions. Our team is very experienced in caring for those undergoing interventional and non-interventional procedures, general surgery procedures, and advanced therapies requiring specialized equipment such as intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), induced hypothermia, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and the Impella Heart Pump. SUMMARY: This position is filled by a registered nurse who, as a result of educational and clinical experience in nursing, possesses the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide nursing care; applies knowledge to act as a change agent, role model and leader; coordinates the care of patients within the patient population; ensures quality focused and cost-effective care delivery outcomes; utilizes theory, research, and specialized knowledge to plan care for the patient; functions within a collaborative practice to enhance quality of care; interprets, evaluates and communicates research findings; and participates in continuous quality improvement activities.

Responsible and accountable for direct patient care for assigned patients on the nursing unit and providing leadership within the nursing team. Responsible and accountable for the care given to the patient and for the decision regarding which nursing tasks can be safely delegated to licensed and unlicensed persons involved in patient care. Must be competent in a wide variety of nursing skills. Responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing care and promoting a team effort among co-workers. Responsible and accountable to know, own and energize the vision, mission, values and standards of the hospital.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.

Licensure: Current Arkansas RN license in good standing or Compact State.

Experience: Minimum of one year experience is preferred. Applicants with no experience will be required to successfully complete a residency program.

Certification: BLS required. ACLS must be acquired within the first 3 months of employment.

Other: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively. Basic computer knowledge required.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without an accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to solve problems and make decisions. Occasionally requires lifting of 50 pounds or more of equipment, able to push in excess of 150 pound wheelchair with patient and equipment, and occasionally lifts patients with assist 125 pounds or more using proper body mechanics. Spends eight hours or more in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse. Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations of CPR and obtaining equipment. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure. Has a keen sense of hearing and keen visual acuity to respond to critical changing patient situations from actual observations and/or equipment alarms. May be subject to inside environmental conditions, hazards (including electrical currents and exposure to high heat and chemicals) and infectious diseases. May have to function around prisoners or patients receiving behavioral health treatment.
