Case Manager

The Case Manager for the La Paz County Public Fiduciary Department plays a pivotal role in supporting vulnerable individuals and administering a variety of fiduciary functions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Preparing comprehensive reports and maintaining accurate records relating to guardianships, conservatorships, estate management, and other casework.
  • Conducting thorough research, investigating, and resolving complex problems that may arise in the course of fiduciary duties.
  • Performing advanced word processing and proficient computer operations to create documents, manage databases, and facilitate communication.
  • Deploying to work sites in remote or rural areas throughout the County, sometimes with minimal supervision.
  • Working in adverse environmental conditions (such as high temperatures, inclement weather, or rugged terrain) for extended periods.
  • Periodically and/or routinely lifting heavy items (up to 25 lbs.) and carrying them over long distances (up to 20 feet).
  • Bending or stooping repeatedly or for prolonged durations, as needed for fieldwork or record management.
  • Walking long distances over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces as part of investigative or field duties.
  • Remaining in a standing position for extended periods while performing site visits, inventory assessments, or other duties that require physical endurance.
  • Communicating effectively with wards, families, legal representatives, medical professionals, service providers, and government agencies.
  • Ensuring compliance with Arizona state laws, administrative orders, and departmental policies.
  • Managing financial operations, including estate preservation, accounting tasks, and bank reconciliations associated with fiduciary responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is resourceful, reliable, and adaptable with a demonstrated commitment to serving vulnerable populations. They possess:
  • Deep understanding of legal principles and fiduciary regulations, particularly those pertaining to guardianships and conservatorships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with diverse individuals, including those in distress or adversarial settings.
  • Proficiency in preparing legal documents, handling confidential information, and conducting sensitive investigations.
  • Ability to work independently in isolated locations and as part of a collaborative team within the department.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in managing complex caseloads and multiple priorities.
  • Physical and mental resilience to handle challenging environments, strenuous tasks, and emotionally intense situations.

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in human services, social work, office management, or a closely related field. This experience should include exposure to accounts payable, general accounting practices, or equivalent financial operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to periodically lift and transport heavy items (up to 25 lbs.) across long distances (up to 20 feet), bend and stoop continually, stand for long periods, and walk over rough terrain.
  • Proficiency in word processing, computer software, and the accurate preparation of reports and records.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to remote and rural locations throughout the County and work outdoors or in adverse conditions when required.
  • Preferred but not required: familiarity with legal and medical terminology, real estate principles, inventory control procedures, and community resources including social service agencies and government entitlement programs (such as Medicare and Arizona Long Term Care).
