HIM Coder at Crouse Hospital – Syracuse, New York

Under the supervision of the Coding Supervisor, assigns diagnosis and procedure codes using the ICD-10-CM classification system and CPT-4, while following published coding guidelines. Abstracts data from the medical record for data collection and the purpose of meeting regulatory agency requirements.

Job Requirements:

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must possess any of the following accredited health information management program credentials: RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCA/CCS-P or have the eligibility for credentialing in-process. RHIT/RHIA/CCA eligible employees must have become certified within 1 year of graduating from their respective program. Will accept CPC credential for outpatient candidates only.

Special Skills/Equipment: All candidates must take and pass a coding test at the time of interview. Must be able to read handwritten records and use a keyboard. Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Hourly Rate Range

$24.50-$39.56/hour

Based on verified education and experience
