Job Title: LEAD Center (Workforce Development) Case Manager

Hours: 37.5 hours/week | Operating Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday. Specific hours subject to manager discretion based on program needs.

FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-exempt

Summary:

The LEAD Center Case Manager provides direct case management services to participants enrolled in Outreach’s Workforce Development programs. This position carries a standing caseload of 20–25 active participants, not including individuals receiving brief or one-time services. This position works with individuals who face barriers to employment, supporting them through career planning, job readiness, placement, and post-placement follow-up. The case manager is responsible for coordinating services, maintaining an active caseload, and connecting participants to the resources and community supports they need to achieve and sustain employment. This position also provides operational support to Dress for Success Lackawanna, a program of Outreach, assisting with client services, suiting appointments, and inventory management as part of the broader role.

Duties:

  • Acts as a case manager for the LEAD Center Workforce Development program; maintains an active caseload; conducts participant assessments; develops and monitors individualized service plans; coaches, advises, and follows up with participants working toward employment goals; tracks program and individual progress
  • Delivers life skills workshops and employment readiness programming in group and individual settings; prepares instructional materials and outlines; facilitates presentations covering job search strategies, workplace expectations, financial literacy, and related topics
  • Provides job development support by connecting with local employers, schools, and community organizations to promote Outreach’s Workforce Development programs and create employment opportunities for participants; assists participants with job search, application, and placement activities
  • Collaborates with the team and contributes to the development of the weekly job listing
  • Schedules and coordinates participant appointments; prepares general correspondence, training materials, and program resources; generates class registration lists and tracks participant attendance
  • Responsible for the collection and input of program and agency data; compiles and enters information in Outreach’s information collection databases; compiles data, reports, and related paperwork for Outreach and funders; maintains timely and accurate reporting to meet the requirements of various funding sources, including federal, state, and local grants
  • Coordinates with Reentry, GED, and other Outreach departments to facilitate referrals and ensure participants receive appropriate wraparound services; represents the LEAD Center at community events and agency-wide meetings
  • Maintains strong, timely case note documentation; case notes must accurately reflect participant contact, progress, barriers, referrals, and next steps, and must be entered within required timeframes
  • Supports Dress for Success Lackawanna operations, including client scheduling, suiting appointments, donation processing, and inventory management, as assigned
  • Maintains organized file systems; assists with photocopying, supply orders, answering phones, and similar team operations
  • Participates in special project teams, external meetings and events, and performs other duties as assigned
  • This job requires daily attendance at the office

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in a human services discipline, workforce development, business, or related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of degree. Familiarity with populations facing employment barriers and a commitment to working with diverse backgrounds and economic challenges is required. At least two to three years of experience in case management, workforce development, or a related human services field required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must have or meet the requirements to obtain current ACT 33 (Child Abuse) and ACT 34 (Criminal Background) clearances. Must be able to obtain additional clearances as required. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required. Workforce development, career coaching, or case management training preferred. Ongoing professional development as required.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of general computer literacy skills and the ability to input into data collection software and MS Office software. Ability to type 40 wpm; strong computer aptitude required.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is performed primarily in a Career Center and office setting, with some time supporting boutique and client-facing operations. Evening or weekend work may be required as needed. Local and occasional regional travel required. This is not a remote position.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds when processing donations or transporting materials.
