Buyer - Supply Chain at Mrs. Clark's Foods – Ankeny, Iowa

The Supply Chain Buyer will be responsible for coordinating purchasing activities for the company demonstrating efforts to sustain and enhance Mrs. Clark's Foods’ position as a supplier of choice within our designated categories. The successful individual will be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors. This position reports to the Operations Support Manager, Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Verifies terminology and specifications of purchase requests
• Searches inventory records and reports to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity
• Contacts suppliers to obtain prices and specifications
• Verifies specifications for products to be ordered
• Meets with suppliers
• Must be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better pricing, and find more profitable suppliers
• Creates purchase orders
• Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries
• Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates to bidders or places orders with suppliers Verifies bills from suppliers with bids and purchase orders

Qualifications:

• Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with suppliers and customers via phone, email, and in person
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Strong attention to detail

Education and/or Experience

• College Degree in Supply Chain Management OR equivalent experience
• Computer Literate

Pay:

• Commensurate with experience
