Cancer Center –RN– Per Diem- Day Shift – 8a-4p - Requisition 7580

A Registered Nurse in the Cancer Treatment Center delivers specialized, compassionate patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Strong emphasis is on psychosocial support through patient teaching and interpersonal communication. This nurse interacts with a population of chronically ill, long-term patients and must perform technical skills repeatedly with scrupulous attention to detail. Patience and a sense of humor are critical to patient/staff relationships. Also serves in a consultant role to nurses providing oncology services in an inpatient setting. Due to the isolated nature of clinic practice, demonstration of ongoing professional growth is mandatory.

Qualifications:

1. Current N.Y.S. RN license required
2. Must maintain BLS certification
3. ACLS desirable
4. ONS certification within 90 days of position start date
5. OCN certification preferred
6. Proficiency with intravenous insertion and accessing venous access devices
7. Three (3) years of Medical-Surgical, CCU, ED or other relevant nursing experience
8. Knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan with the ability to use that knowledge to individualize the plan and delivery of care
9. Sustained efforts to maintain current knowledge base regarding professional and practice issues
10. Oncology experience preferred
11. Proficient computer skills and ability to use oncology based electronic medical records
