Job Description
Function & Responsibility
Directs and coordinates the activities of manufacturing and materials. Includes all departments of manufacturing and the materials departments of shipping/receiving, planning/scheduling, inventory and purchasing.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Coordinating with the General Manager, determines goals and identifies the human and capital resources to achieve them.
· Directs the implementation of new initiatives required to achieve excellent service, quality, and productivity levels
· Effectively coordinates with other departments of the organization to accomplish short and long term goals
· Prepares and presents the department's annual operating and capital budgets. Monitors expenses and review reports reflecting actual performance to budget and ensures that corrective actions are taken as may be necessary
· Provides recommendations on methods, improvements, or changes in procedures requiring higher approval. May include equipment modification or purchase of additional tools or equipment
· Ensures that the processing of all parts and orders are performed in accordance with specifications and requirements including customer drawings, SOP's, and general compliance to ISO-9001
· Responsible with engineering and quality for the effective transfer of special products from design to manufacturing
· Responsible for the effective use of various practices within the departments of the materials group. These may include supplier surveys and audits, cycle counting inventory, effective use of MRP/CRP and maintaining required stocking levels
· Plans, develops and implements organization policies and goals.
· Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
· Coordinates activities of departments such as operations, manufacturing, engineering, planning, maintenance, or research and development, to effect operational efficiency and economy.
· Confers with administrative personnel and reviews activity and operating reports to determine changes in programs or operations required.
· Directs preparation of directives to department manager or supervisor outlining policy, program, or operations changes to be implemented.
· Manages directly and through subordinates and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
· Travel may be required, but the ability to engage and build rapport with customers/vendors via telephone and email correspondence will be essential.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Knowledge and experience with applicable manufacturing practices / processes.
- Working knowledge of Tier I or Tier II ERP manufacturing software; working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project.
- Project a professional attitude and aptitude.
- Strong listening skills and information gathering skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in English. Outstanding communicator in groups or one on one.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully and develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations and uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
- Understands business implications of decisions; Aligns work with strategic goals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively lead others.
- Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of customer base and their needs.
- The ability to interact with all levels of management both internally and within customer/vendor base.
- Computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft office applications including word processing, spreadsheet software applications, and presentation software.
- Ability to write various types of correspondence including articles, reports, and presentations.
- Must have strong organizational skills and pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to teach, train and develop others.
- Ability to plan, organize and work successfully on simultaneous projects.
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor Degree in a business related field. Master degree desired.
- Must have at least 10-15 years of work experience in a manufacturing work environment, preferably in the applicable industry.
- At least 5 years experience in a managerial position, supervising support staff in a like industry.
