Job Description:
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the clinical research facility. This role supports clinical operations by ensuring patient care areas, laboratories, offices, and common spaces meet established cleanliness, infection control, and regulatory standards. The Housekeeper plays an essential role in creating a professional environment that supports research participants, staff, and study sponsors.
Responsibilities:
- Making beds and handling laundry throughout the facility
- Clean and sanitize patient exam rooms, treatment areas, laboratories, offices, conference rooms, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas according to established schedules and protocols.
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces using approved cleaning agents and infection prevention procedures.
- Restock restroom, kitchen, and housekeeping supplies as needed.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces to maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, doors, and other interior surfaces.
- Monthly cleaning of walls and vacuuming ac vents to remove dust and debris.
- Follow infection control procedures, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or supply shortages to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with room setup and cleaning before and after participant visits or research activities.
- Maintain housekeeping equipment and ensure cleaning supplies are stored safely and securely.
- Follow all facility policies, OSHA safety standards, HIPAA confidentiality requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines as applicable.
- Support emergency cleaning needs and special projects as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Requirements
- Previous housekeeping or environmental services experience preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare, laboratory, hospital, or clinical setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and infection prevention practices.
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with staff, research participants, and visitors.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality.

Environmental Demands and Potential Hazards
- The environment will range from business office setting to clinical areas such as inpatient unit and clinical screening areas.
- The position requires contact with biological samples, individuals with potentially infectious diseases and with toxic, harmful, or potentially hazardous compounds, solutions, and medications.
- Noise level can range from quiet to moderate volume.
