About the Role Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to join Oxford University Press as an Area Manager, Sales within the School Education business. The role offers the chance to directly influence business growth, strengthen customer relationships, and drive the adoption of high-quality educational products across schools in the Chennai market.

The position provides exposure to a dynamic education ecosystem, working closely with cross-functional teams including Digital Sales, Operations, Academic Excellence, Marketing, and Product teams. It offers the opportunity to promote both print and digital educational solutions, engage with key decision-makers in schools, and contribute to the continued growth of OUP’s presence in the region.

Opportunity

As Area Manager, Sales, you will be responsible for achieving sales and collection targets within your assigned territory through effective planning, market development, customer engagement, and promotion of OUP’s education products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
  • Drive product promotion initiatives to increase market penetration and adoption.
  • Retain and grow market share through proactive customer engagement and relationship management.
  • Aggressively promote educational titles and solutions within the schools segment.
  • Deliver value-added services to customers through workshops and educational activities.
  • Ensure timely and effective collection of receivables in line with monthly collection targets.
  • Execute market plans effectively and monitor implementation progress.
  • Deliver high levels of customer service and support.
  • Manage accounts and maintain close oversight of monthly collection budgets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with school leaders, educators, and key stakeholders.
Impact

This role plays a critical part in driving revenue growth, strengthening OUP’s market presence, and enhancing customer satisfaction within the School Education business. Through effective sales execution, relationship management, and educational engagement initiatives, the role contributes directly to OUP’s business objectives and commitment to supporting quality education.

About You Essential Criteria
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a relevant industry.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Strong knowledge of the assigned market and territory.
  • Solution-oriented sales approach with exposure to digital products or solutions.
  • Understanding and appreciation of school education, including the sector’s environment, structure, and key challenges.
  • Ability to manage customer relationships and achieve sales and collection targets.
  • Strong planning, execution, and account management capabilities.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience working within the education, publishing, edtech, or related sectors.
  • Experience engaging with school leaders, administrators, and teaching professionals.
  • Exposure to educational workshops, training initiatives, or academic engagement activities.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, operations, and product functions.
