Responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, delegating and auditing of HVAC equipment maintenance, repair and other duties.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Installs, maintains and repairs HVAC equipment. Installs, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance on hot water, heating, and chilled water air conditioning systems. Repairs and installs steam pipes, steam pressure regulators, and steam traps. Replaces filters and cleans air handling and exhaust systems. Maintains chiller and absorption units, cooling towers, and pneumatic control systems. Assists in cleaning and preparing boilers for inspection. Maintains control of thermostat adjustments throughout facilities.
2. Performs inspections. Inspects assigned areas and records on log. Inspects all machine rooms to ensure that all equipment is running properly.
3. Maintains all required records. Records all work not assigned on maintenance work log on computer system. Completes work slips. Maintains and orders assigned supplies.
4. Maintains a clean and safe work area including all machine rooms. Assures proper care in use and maintenance of tools, equipment and supplies. Adheres to safety standards, procedures and regulations.
5. Responds to and assesses various calls and emergencies as required or directed. Assumes on call responsibilities as assigned.
II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
2. EPA CFC Recovery Certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment as a condition of employment.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. One to three years of experience.
2. Ability to repair and troubleshoot variable air volume terminal bases.
3. Knowledge of pneumatic temperature controls.
4. Basic computers skills.
