Why We're Hiring

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Accounting Manager to oversee the company's retail and commerce related day-to-day accounting operations and reporting, and lead assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. This role is responsible for the general ledger, financial reporting, licensing and royalty reporting, compliance and internal controls while ensuring accurate and timely financial information.

The Accounting Manager will partner closely with the Director of Accounting and collaborate with Merchandising, Operations, Technology and other business functions to support contractual reporting, strategic initiatives, improve accounting processes, and drive operational excellence. This position requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys developing people while continuously improving processes.

Working Hours

This is a 9 month contract with a hybrid schedule, 2 days onsite in Los Angeles, CA.
What You'll Do
Financial Close, General Accounting & Reporting
  • Oversee assigned areas the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes in accordance with US GAAP. This includes but is not limited to preparing and approving journal entries, creating and maintaining accounting schedules, and performing and reviewing account reconciliations as well as other reporting. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records and reporting.
  • Own licensing and royalty reporting ensuring reports are prepared accurately and timely, in accordance with contractual deadlines.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as assigned.
Compliance, Audit & Controls
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and strong internal controls.
  • Identify process gaps, recommend improvements, and implement best practices to strengthen the accounting function.
Team Leadership
  • Supervise, mentor, train, and develop accounting staff, including two Senior Accountants.
  • Establish priorities, review work, and provide coaching to support professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Partner with Merchandising, Operations and Technology teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to develop processes and controls to ensure complete and accurate commerce transaction reporting through NetSuite ERP.
  • Collaborate with the Technology team to identify reporting issues and develop automated reporting solutions.
  • Build strong relationships across departments to support business initiatives and improve operational efficiency.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Experience leading and developing small teams.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, accountability, and sense of urgency.
Preferred Skills
  • CPA designation preferred; equivalent experience and demonstrated technical accounting expertise will also be considered.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing licensing and other royalty reports.
  • Experience in consumer products, retail, or inventory management environments.
  • Preferred Systems Experience: NetSuite ERP, Tableau, Microsoft Excel

The Pay Range, which consists of salary and commission, for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Complex Total Rewards offerings for employees.
