This role is responsible for delivering a smooth, accurate, and client-focused onboarding experience for new retirement plan clients.
You will manage onboarding activities from initiation through completion, coordinating closely with clients, advisors, recordkeepers, and internal teams.
The position combines technical knowledge of qualified retirement plans with strong project coordination and client communication skills.
You will review and interpret complex plan documents, translate provisions into actionable requirements, and ensure accurate implementation.
Your attention to detail will help maintain compliance while identifying opportunities to improve plan design and onboarding processes.
You will also contribute to evolving workflows and methodologies as the organization continues to grow.

- Manage onboarding activities for new retirement plan clients, ensuring key milestones, deliverables, and deadlines are met from initiation through completion.
- Maintain accurate onboarding systems, status reports, documentation, and project information so internal and external stakeholders remain aligned.
- Review and map existing plan documents to ensure current plan provisions are accurately reflected in the new plan.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate plan documents, amendments, restatements, Summary Plan Descriptions, and related materials.
- Participate in plan provision and onboarding discussions with clients, advisors, recordkeepers, and internal teams as needed.
- Clearly explain plan provisions, requirements, available options, and next steps to clients and business partners.
- Identify opportunities to improve plan design and recommend practical solutions when certain provisions are not supported.
- Prepare and submit approved plan provisions to recordkeepers and coordinate the associated documentation.
- Interpret and review legal and retirement plan documents with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Partner with internal teams and external providers to identify and resolve issues, remove obstacles, and keep onboarding projects on schedule.
- Identify opportunities to improve onboarding processes, workflows, methodologies, and overall operational efficiency.
- Take full ownership of assigned onboarding projects while maintaining a high-quality and responsive client experience.
- 3–5+ years of experience working with retirement plan documents, qualified retirement plans, or third-party administrator operations.
- Strong understanding of ERISA and IRS regulations governing qualified retirement plans.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing, interpreting, and drafting retirement plan documents.
- Strong knowledge of 401(k) plan provisions and retirement plan design concepts.
- Experience with plan amendments, restatements, Summary Plan Descriptions, and other retirement plan compliance documentation is preferred.
- Experience with 401(k) administration, including compliance testing, plan operations, and document update cycles, is preferred.
- Experience working directly with employers, advisors, recordkeepers, or other retirement plan partners is an advantage.
- Familiarity with retirement plan document and administration systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex retirement concepts clearly to different audiences.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented approach with strong ownership and follow-through.
- Ability to work collaboratively across internal teams and external partners while maintaining a strong client focus.
- ASPPA credentials such as QKA, QKC, or QPA, or progress toward one of these certifications, are preferred.
