Description

The Jeff Rouse Swim & Sport Center is currently looking for a Cafe Shift Leader. The Café Shift Lead is responsible for providing outstanding guest service, receiving and processing payments, and serving food and beverage items in a timely manner. In addition, the Café Attendant Shift Lead is responsible for engaging with guests behind the customer service counter, as well as beyond the service counter. They will also assist the kitchen team members, as needed, to ensure quick and efficient ticket times. This non-supervisory part-time position leads the Café Attendants and reports to the Food & Beverage Director and/or the General Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate cash register and Point of Sale (POS) System
  • Operate Smoothie Station
  • Engage with members and guests to include greeting customers, and providing friendly and professional service
  • Provide excellent guest service
  • Observe guests to anticipate their needs and respond quickly to requests
  • Build rapport with members and guests
  • Upsell food and beverage items
  • Actively produce new ideas for business success and efficiency
  • Serve food and beverage items in a timely manner
  • Open and close the Front of the House (FOH)
  • Clean and maintain the Front of the House
  • Clean and maintain the Café area
  • Organize, stock, and control inventory
  • Assist the Back of the House (BOH) team members as needed
  • Constantly circulate around the dining area to maintain cleanliness and interact with the guests
  • Communicate with managers regarding FOH issues
  • Able to multi-task
  • Able work irregular shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Able to stand and/or walk for the duration of the shift (8 or more hours)
  • Able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the Food & Beverage Director and/or the General Manager.
Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience: Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, total sales, and change.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of Point of Sale systems and standard computer workstations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the following:

  • Food Handlers Certification (within 60 days of employment)

Age Requirements: Due to hours of operation, the individual must be at least 18+ years of age.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • The employee is often exposed to non-weather temperatures working in either a freezer or on a food preparation line.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
