Job Description

Data Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Analyst based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to support a large-scale data migration initiative within the U.S. government sector. You will combine advanced data analysis with hands-on migration, conversion, and integration work. The position has end-to-end ownership of data mapping across disparate systems, from discovery and analysis through transformation and validation. You’ll work closely with technical teams, business analysts, and stakeholders to turn complex data requirements into actionable solutions. Your expertise will help ensure migrated data is accurate, complete, well-documented, and fit for purpose. The role is well suited to an experienced analyst who enjoys solving ambiguous data challenges and taking ownership of complex migration programs.

Accountabilities
  • Plan and support the execution of an extended, large-scale data migration initiative, contributing to migration strategy, sequencing, and delivery.
  • Analyze source and target systems in depth to understand data structures, relationships, dependencies, and migration requirements.
  • Identify all data elements requiring mapping between systems, including undocumented relationships, dependencies, and business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain data conversion scripts using SQL, Python, or similar technologies to support migration activities.
  • Define required data transformations and produce comprehensive mapping documentation that can be understood and acted upon by both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Support API development and integration efforts that enable reliable data exchange between systems.
  • Provide senior-level recommendations on transformation logic, data quality management, migration risks, and overall migration approaches.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to validate mapping decisions, transformation requirements, and technical assumptions.
  • Support testing and validation activities to confirm migrated data is complete, accurate, and consistent with requirements.
  • Maintain clear documentation of migration processes, mapping decisions, transformation logic, recommendations, and lessons learned throughout the engagement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in data analysis, including significant hands-on experience supporting data migration initiatives.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing detailed data mappings between disparate systems and defining the transformations required to support successful migration.
  • Working proficiency in SQL, Python, or similar scripting and programming languages for developing data conversion scripts.
  • Familiarity with API concepts and experience supporting API development or integrations for system-to-system data exchange.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities, with the independence to uncover undocumented data relationships and requirements.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce comprehensive mapping documentation and clear transformation recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with developers, business analysts, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong ownership, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) suitability determination.
  • Must reside in the United States and be authorized to work remotely from within the country.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal government data migration initiatives.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with the Empower platform, ETL tools, and data integration or transformation platforms.
  • Preferred: Previous experience as a senior or lead data analyst on large-scale system migration projects.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation package aligned with industry standards.
  • 401(k) Safe Harbor plan with matching contributions and immediate vesting.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Paid time off, including holidays, vacation, wellness, and personal leave.
  • Continuing education and professional training budget.
  • Office and technology budget to support effective remote work.
  • Cell phone budget.
  • Wellness and healthy-living budget.
  • Awards and performance-based bonuses.
  • Profit-sharing opportunities.
  • Employee-focused support through dedicated programs designed to promote well-being, communication, professional development, and engagement.
  • Remote work flexibility within the United States.
  • Opportunities to contribute to meaningful government technology initiatives and develop expertise in complex data migration programs.
