Job Description
The child and Adolescent Therapist provide cognitive behavioral therapy to children and adolescents that meet priority population services from Camino Real. Also, provides social and behavior skills training to children and their families. Performs complex social services work including case management, parenting, crisis intervention, diagnostic assessments and collaborate with community agencies. This position also involves communicating with a treatment team for the diagnosis and treatment of clients. Position requires extensive travel and may require use of personal vehicle.
Must meet minimum standards and productivity.
Assists the Director in providing community education and consultation. lnter-agency collaboration is essential to this position. The job requires extensive travel for community-based service provision and flexible hours and schedule. Administratively reports directly to the C&A MH Director.
Section C - Minimum Job Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for the position:
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Social Work, Counseling or Human services field plus licensure as an LPC, LMFT or LCSW. Candidate may be working toward licensure in Counseling or Social work, *fully licensed salary.
- Direct professional experience in social, behavioral, or human services. Experience and proficiency using computer software.
- Must be CST certified within one year of hire date.
- English/Spanish skills; demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish.
- Prefer candidate with 2 years' experience working in a mental health setting, with at least 1 year with children and adolescent populations.
- Must assess good computer skills. Must assess a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Section D - Preferred Job Qualifications
- Prior working experience with mental health, social, behavioral, or human services including diagnostics. 3-years of experience working experience as an LPC.

- Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, and practices of social work/counseling psychology.
- Skill in interviewing and assessing treatment needs of persons served.
- Ability to communicate effective both written and oral.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to plan and implement consumer services.
- May require abilities to supervise the work of others; to interpret program methods and procedures; and to provide guidance to other staff.
- Ability to work under conditions requiring physical stamina and the ability to work in a stressful environment.
- Ability to work independently, to organize work efficiently, and to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professionals, individuals, and groups; exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment when dealing with people; prepare reports and recommendations for administrative use.
- Knowledge of individual needs/characteristics associated with mental illness. Extensive knowledge of service delivery system and case management delivery system.
- Ability to develop productive relationship with individuals and family members that focus on individual specific outcomes.
- Extensive skill in individual needs assessment, developing a treatment plan for the individual and the ability to respond to the changing needs of the individual. Ability to identify problems/gaps in service.
- Ability to advocate effectively for an individual in the target population.
- Knowledge of local community resources, how to access those services and us them effectively. Ability to make appropriate referrals and linkages and ability to recognize barriers and coordination issues between service systems.
- Ability to work in a crisis situation.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and practices of social work and chemical dependency, the functioning of mental health hospitals and/or out-patient mental health clinics and schools.
