Job Summary

The Platform Architect V is responsible for defining, evolving, and enabling the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) as an integrated system of platforms supporting data and AI capabilities across the enterprise. This role ensures that the platform ecosystem—including data ingestion, processing, governance, and access—is architected to meet current and future business needs while aligning with Enterprise Technology Strategy.

Operating within Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) and aligned to the Enterprise Architecture (EA) domain, the Platform Architect V leads platform direction through proposal-driven architecture, influences cross-functional decisions, and enables engineering teams through clear architectural patterns, guardrails, and reference implementations.

This role partners closely with Product Architects (particularly AI-focused roles) in a two-in-a-box model, where the Platform Architect owns platform architecture and system design, while Product Architects own use case definition and business outcomes.

Success will be measured by increased adoption of the Enterprise Data Platform, reduced platform fragmentation, improved delivery velocity, and enhanced platform stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define Platform Architecture: Lead the design and evolution of the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP), establishing standards, integration patterns, and ensuring system interoperability.

  • Drive Modernization: Guide platform evolution, improving scalability, reducing technical debt, and shaping technology lifecycle and adoption.

  • Enable Engineering Teams: Provide technical leadership through reference architectures, reusable patterns, and architectural guardrails; mentor engineering teams.

  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner closely with Product Architects and collaborate across engineering and data teams to align platform and product outcomes.

  • Promote Adoption & Standardization: Drive consistent platform usage, influencing teams to adopt standardized solutions and reduce fragmentation.

  • Ensure Governance & Risk Alignment: Align platform architecture with security, compliance, and governance requirements; proactively identify and mitigate risks.

  • Align with Enterprise Architecture: Ensure consistency with enterprise standards and represent the platform in architecture forums.

Skills and Background You’ll Need

Education: A Bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and operations in similarly scaled organizations. Exposure to diverse technologies, platforms, and processing environments. Strong understanding of strategic and emerging technology trends and their practical application. Familiarity with enterprise technology stacks and networked systems. Experience with developing strategies, roadmaps, and delivering executive-level presentations.

  • Extensive experience in enterprise platform architecture / Strong expertise in modern data platforms.

  • Experience designing complex systems

  • Experience with AI/ML platform enablement

  • Kafka / streaming

  • Data ingestion (Fivetran, pipelines)

  • Lakehouse and storage

  • Governance (Unity Catalog, Collibra)

  • Data-as-a-Service / APIs

  • AI/ML enablement (with AI & Analytics team)

  • Familiarity with governance tools like Unity Catalog, Collibra

  • Azure Databricks (preferred)

  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams. Occasionally serves as decision owner for cross-platform standards.

  • Experienced providing technical leadership across teams, mentoring engineers and architects.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.

Salary Range:

$137,000.00 - $233,000.00
