About the Role
The IT Summer Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the organization’s technology infrastructure and daily IT operations. This role provides exposure to systems, networks, cybersecurity practices, and end-user support within a banking environment. The intern will work closely with IT team members to assist with technical projects, troubleshoot issues, and support system efficiency while developing practical skills in information technology.
Essential Responsibilities
- Champion Enterprise Values: Lead with and model SSB&T’s core values, embedding them into data strategy, governance, and team culture.
- In addition to other duties as assigned from time to time in SSB&T’s reasonable discretion, your responsibilities include:
- Provide first-level technical support for internal users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues
- Assist with setup, configuration, and maintenance of computers, printers, and mobile devices
- Support user account management, including password resets and access requests
- Participate in system updates, software installations, and routine maintenance tasks
- Assist with monitoring IT systems, networks, and security protocols
- Document processes, procedures, and technical issues for internal reference
- Support IT projects such as system upgrades, data organization, or process improvements
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive company and customer information
- Prepare and deliver a final presentation summarizing internship experience and key projects

- Focus-intensive position requiring extended periods of sitting and digital navigation.
- Occasional walking, standing, and use of office equipment.
- Must possess close visual acuity and clear speech for verbal communication.
Location & Travel
- Physical reporting Branch or Operations office location
- Travel may be necessary depending on business needs
Candidate Requirements
- Ability to adapt to growing business needs and structural changes
- High school diploma or GED (for teller and entry-level positions); bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field for professional roles
- Attention to detail
- Currently enrolled in college or university (preferably in IT, Computer Science, or related field)
- Proficiency with standard office software and ability to learn core banking platforms
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and any required pre-employment screening (drug testing, fingerprinting for FDIC-insured institutions)
Candidate Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or experience in networking, cybersecurity, or system administration
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, macOS)
- Basic understanding of Active Directory, help desk systems, or ticketing tools (a plus)
- Previous IT Support IT support or technical experience (preferred but not required)
