  • Make sound underwriting decisions to accept, modify, price-adjust, reject, non-renew, or cancel policies based on risk assessment.
  • Review discounts, credits, surcharges, exclusions, and other rating or policy factors for accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Identify unclear, incomplete, or conflicting information and request additional documentation from agents, brokers, or other appropriate parties.
  • Communicate underwriting decisions, documentation needs, and policy actions professionally and timely to agents, brokers, policyholders, and internal teams.
  • Document underwriting decisions clearly, including the basis for approvals, rejections, cancellations, pricing changes, exclusions, or other policy actions.
  • Initiate underwriting cancellations or insured-requested cancellations in accordance with company guidelines, policy terms, and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct peer reviews in a professional, objective, and constructive manner to support accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Manage a high-volume workflow while maintaining quality, attention to detail, professionalism, and service standards.

Required Qualifications:
  • Florida 2-20 Property and Casualty General Lines License.
  • 3 or more years of experience in the Florida insurance industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of underwriting guidelines, forms, procedures, regulations, coverages, and business processes.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey underwriting decisions clearly and professionally.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of insurance forms, procedures, regulations, coverages, and business processes for assigned programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows-based applications, internet research, and related business systems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, evaluate information objectively, and communicate recommendations or opinions with confidence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Customer-focused approach with the ability to demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and responsiveness.
  • Ability to participate in and respond to peer reviews in a professional, constructive, and collaborative manner.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Benefits:
