Job Description

Forward Deployed Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer in Canada.

You will join a highly technical environment at the intersection of AI, physics, and advanced hardware engineering, working directly with enterprise customers on complex photonics and semiconductor design challenges. The role focuses on translating real-world engineering workflows into structured, AI-powered systems that can be deployed in production settings. You will act as a technical bridge between customers and product teams, ensuring that cutting-edge AI capabilities are effectively applied to scientific and industrial use cases. Working within a mission-driven organization, you will contribute to accelerating hardware innovation through verifiable and interpretable AI systems. This position combines hands-on engineering, customer engagement, and rapid prototyping in high-stakes technical environments. You will influence both customer outcomes and long-term platform evolution while operating in a highly collaborative, research-oriented setting. The work is fast-paced, deeply technical, and highly impactful across advanced engineering domains.

Accountabilities
  • Partner closely with engineering, research, and technical stakeholders at customer organizations to understand complex photonics, semiconductor, and circuit design workflows, translating them into structured technical solutions and deployment roadmaps.
  • Design, build, and iterate on agentic AI workflows that integrate LLMs, physics-based models, simulation tools, and engineering data to enable automation, optimization, and advanced design-space exploration.
  • Develop rapid prototypes and production-grade demos showcasing AI-driven modeling, simulation automation, and multi-domain co-design capabilities.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison between customers and internal product teams, transforming field insights into scalable platform features and strategic roadmap inputs.
  • Support pilot deployments and early-stage implementations, ensuring solutions meet strict requirements around validation, reliability, and intellectual property constraints.
  • Contribute to solution architecture decisions spanning modeling, simulation, and engineering workflow integration in high-performance environments.
Requirements
  • MSc or PhD in engineering, physics, computer science, or a related scientific/technical discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in software engineering, applied AI, solution engineering, or forward-deployed engineering roles.
  • Strong Python programming skills, particularly in scientific computing, API integration, and workflow orchestration.
  • Hands-on experience with modern AI systems, including LLMs, APIs, and agent-based or orchestration frameworks.
  • Proven ability to work directly with enterprise customers or technical stakeholders to deliver complex engineering solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences in high-stakes environments.
  • Strong collaboration mindset with a service-oriented, problem-solving approach.
  • Nice to have: experience with frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Ray, or Prefect; familiarity with EDA tools, HPC environments, cloud/hybrid deployments, or hardware-software co-design workflows.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Stock options enabling participation in company growth and success.
  • Access to cutting-edge tools and collaboration with leading experts in AI, physics, and hardware engineering.
  • Opportunities for professional development, including conferences, research presentations, and engagement with the global AI community.
  • Impact-driven environment focused on solving advanced challenges in AI-enabled hardware design.
  • Flexible work arrangements depending on role and location requirements (hybrid/remote options may apply depending on team setup).
  • Collaborative, research-oriented culture emphasizing innovation and technical excellence.
