Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, electrical and electronic systems, conveyor systems, and injection molding machines and equipment by performing the following duties, while maintaining equipment downtime due to equipment issues at 10% or less.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Responsible for repair and maintenance of all plant equipment, buildings, and grounds.
- Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Repair or replace defective parts. Lubricate and clean machines.
- Start machines to test their performance.
- Repair electrical equipment and control systems.
- Maintain records in compliance with applicable quality procedures.
- Conduct plant-wide safety checks on equipment.
- Complete maintenance request forms.
- Complete preventive maintenance and PM books once work is complete.
- Responsible for following safety standards and procedures according to OSHA and ANSI regulations.
- Complete requisitions with proper approvals for maintenance items needed to repair equipment.
- Must provide own tools.
- Responsible for timely completion of all maintenance repairs to machinery and equipment.
- Repair and PM all auxiliary equipment and tag with completed tag.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, efficiently, and safely in a busy manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast past environment.
- Must be able to read, follow and perform tasks outlined by work instructions.
- Must pass written and performance test for operating a hi-lo.
- 3-5 years' experience in troubleshooting injection molding and secondary equipment required.
- Experience with robotics, programmable controls, including the ability to troubleshoot and modify programs through the appropriate tools highly preferred.
- Industrial electrical knowledge or experience is preferred.
- Experience working on plant machinery, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC is a plus.
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings is desired.
- Capability of EOAT Design and Fabrication plus.
- Proficiency in valve gate design and installation plus.
- Willing and able to be certified on forklift (sit down and standup) and scissor lift.
- Must be willing to stay current with technology through continuous education.
- Must have forklift experience.
- Must be willing to work overtime, when required to do so.
- Must abide by all forklift safety rules.
- Working knowledge of plant machinery, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC.
- Ability to interpret on extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents use as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong functional knowledge of plant equipment, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC.
- Working knowledge of programmable controls, including the ability to troubleshoot and modify programs through the use of appropriate tools.
- Willingness to continue training to upgrade skills, as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS: The physical demands, work environment factors and mental functions described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand, stoop, twist, climb and repetitively perform tasks for long periods of time (8 to 12 hours).
- Able to bend the body forward and downward while bending at the spine at the waist 45 degrees or more; bending below the waist or down toward an object on or near the ground.
- Able to work around hot molds, presses, cranes, and industrial equipment and work in tight spaces.
- Able to use hands and fingers to seize, hold, grasp objects.
- Ability to extend arms with the hands higher than the head; reaching at or below shoulder level.
- Ascend or descend ramps and/or stairs using feet and legs.
- Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (machinery alarms, medical codes, or warnings). Work frequently in close proximity to machinery; noise levels are moderate.
- Close vision (distance of 20 inches or less) and ability to identify/distinguish colors.
- Hands-on role 60-80% of the time, with mixture of desk and computer duties.
- Temperature in facility can vary up to 90 degrees. Candidates must be able to perform duties in hot and cold environments.
- Able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% to 100% of the time.
- Able to ascend/descend forklift and standing lift, trailers, steps, ladders etc.
- No aversion to heights
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
- Frequently exposed to high, precarious places.
