Job Description
Southern Foodservice Management is seeking a motivated Human Resources professional to support the daily operations of the Human Resources department at our Fort Lee location.
This position serves as a key member of the Human Resources team and provides support across all functional areas of HR, including payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, onboarding, compliance, training and development, performance management, recordkeeping, and other HR initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with the Human Resources Manager, Project Manager, Building Managers, Assistant Building Managers, and the Corporate Human Resources team to ensure consistent application of company policies, employment practices, and compliance requirements.
Level and compensation of this position will be determined based on the selected candidate's education, experience, and demonstrated Human Resources capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and operational support for all Human Resources functions.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information and sensitive business matters.
- Coordinate and facilitate new hire onboarding activities.
- Assist new employees with completion of onboarding documentation and company processes.
- Ensure employee data is accurately entered and maintained within Paylocity and other HR systems.
- Support employee status changes, transfers, promotions, compensation updates, and separations.
- Assist with offboarding and exit processes.
- Assist with payroll processing activities and payroll-related inquiries.
- Review employee information for accuracy and resolve discrepancies as appropriate.
- Support benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, open enrollment, and employee benefit questions in conjunction with the Corporate HR department.
- Coordinate with Corporate Human Resources to ensure accurate administration of employee benefits and payroll
- Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding company policies, procedures, and HR programs.
- Assist in addressing employee concerns and routine employee relations matters.
- Support investigations and documentation related to workplace issues as directed by the Human Resources Manager or Corporate HR.
- Assist managers with performance management processes, coaching documentation, and corrective action procedures.
- Escalate complex or sensitive matters to the Human Resources Manager or Corporate HR as appropriate.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and contract-specific employment requirements.
- Monitor completion of required employment documentation and training requirements.
- Help communicate and reinforce company policies and procedures.
- Assist with implementation of HR initiatives and process improvements.
- Track training completion and maintain training records.
- Assist with leadership development, employee engagement, and workforce development initiatives.
- Work closely with the Human Resources Manager to ensure consistent application of policies and employment practices.
- Collaborate with Corporate Human Resources on policy interpretation, compliance matters, benefits administration, employee relations concerns, and other Human Resources activities.
- Build positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Participate in special projects and Human Resources initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Preferred
- Prior Human Resources, payroll, benefits, recruiting, office administration, or related experience.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a large employee population.
- Experience using Paylocity or other Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
- Knowledge of employment laws and Human Resources best practices.
- HR certification such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar credentials preferred but not required.
