JOB SUMMARY
Our SLOCA teachers have a profound impact on students’ lives. When they have planned or unplanned absences, we rely on skilled substitutes to fill in. We are currently looking for engaging, reliable substitute teachers to cover classes at all levels, from kindergarten to high school. In this position, you will take over for teachers in their absence, carrying out their lesson plans and ensuring students have a fulfilling classroom experience. The ideal candidates will have prior substitute-teaching experience and the ability to lead the class in an orderly fashion. The most successful substitutes can count on consistent work throughout the district.

JOB STRUCTURE
- The Substitute will report to the HR Director
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
- Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
- Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom
- Provide in-class assignments based on the available lesson plans
- Become familiar with SLOCA’s emergency protocols, such as fire drills and lockdown procedures
- Record attendance according to school procedures
- Compile report for regular teacher that includes student attendance, lesson-plan progress, disciplinary actions, and positive developments
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds on a limited basis. Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and sitting. Able to stand for extended periods of time regularly.
