PRN Certified Nursing Assistant - Day Shift

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides services and procedures that are delegated, assigned, and supervised by a Unity RN. These services and procedures are based on the RN's comprehensive assessment of the patient’s personal care needs and are documented in the Activities of Daily Living Plan of Care.

Schedule: This PRN Pool 1 opportunity requires a minimum commitment of 16 hours per month. Shifts are available during the day and include 12-hour shifts at our Meng Residence (6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m.) or community-based shifts that are typically 9 hours. There is no set weekend or holiday rotation; however, flexibility to pick up weekend and holiday shifts is expected.

Minimum Qualifications & Certification/Licensure:

  1. Completion of a certified nursing assistant program
  2. Must be listed on the Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Registry and be eligible to work at state and federally certified facilities
  3. Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Highly motivated and organized with a strong attention to detail and analytical skills to help solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment.
  • Ability to keep up to date with policies, practices, and regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and capable of dealing with deadline pressures.
  • Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations as well as policies and procedures of Unity.
  • Satisfy mandatory training requirements regarding local, state, and federal regulations and/or Unity’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to adjust to frequently changing demands.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides services and procedures that are delegated, assigned and supervised by a Unity RN. These services and procedures are based on the RN comprehensive assessment of the patient’s personal care needs and documented in the Activities of Daily Living Plan of Care.

  1. Unity CNA staff can perform services/support in the following areas as directed by the RN:
  2. Activities of Daily Living
  3. Restorative Care
  4. Skin Care
  5. Mobility
  6. Nutritional Support
  7. Respiratory
  8. Bowel and Bladder
  9. Reinforce Teaching
  10. Companionship and Support
  11. Vital Signs
  12. Reading of CADD pump settings
  13. Report on pain rating
  14. Maintain required competencies and skills
  15. Report any changes in the patient’s condition or family situation immediately to the appropriate member(s) of the interdisciplinary team
  16. Promote and maintain confidentiality
  17. Shares in providing 24-hour, seven day-a-week coverage
