Software Engineer, Networking & C/C++

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer, Networking & C/C++ based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to design and develop high-performance networking software that powers critical global infrastructure.
You will contribute to advanced packet forwarding technologies used across large-scale cloud, service provider, and mobile networks.
Working at the intersection of systems programming, networking, and distributed infrastructure, you will solve complex engineering challenges.
The position involves architecting new features, improving existing capabilities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
You will work with experienced engineers and technical stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable, and innovative networking solutions.
This is an impactful opportunity for a senior engineer passionate about low-level software development and next-generation networking technologies.

Accountabilities:

The role focuses on developing and maintaining advanced networking software while collaborating with product, engineering, testing, and customer-facing teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Responsibilities include:

  • Architect and develop packet forwarding features for high-performance routing platforms, including IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, SRv6, multicast, GRE, LAG, and tunneling technologies.
  • Translate product requirements into scalable technical designs and efficient software implementations.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain networking features used in global cloud, service provider, and mobile environments.
  • Collaborate with product managers, test teams, and engineering groups to qualify and deliver reliable products.
  • Engage with customers and industry communities to understand requirements and contribute technical expertise.
  • Support existing features through troubleshooting, optimization, and continuous improvements.
  • Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and engineering initiatives focused on innovation and quality.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in systems programming, networking technologies, and software engineering, with strong problem-solving abilities and experience building complex infrastructure solutions. Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with 12+ years of professional experience; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Extensive experience with C programming (8+ years) and strong experience with C++ development (3+ years).
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, operating systems, and software architecture.
  • Hands-on experience working with Linux environments and Python scripting.
  • Proven experience developing packet forwarding or networking software in enterprise-scale environments.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts such as L3 forwarding, MPLS, multicast, SRv6, segment routing, SR-TE, or tunneling technologies is highly preferred.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, automation practices, and AI-assisted development tools is a plus.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a technical engineering team.
