Job Description
Magic Tilt Trailers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Steel Parts/Frame Welder to join our Parts Weld Department. This position is responsible for MIG welding steel frame materials and steel components used in the construction of boat trailers.
Department: Parts Weld
Job Status: Regular Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Reports To: Parts Weld Supervisor
Applicants must meet at least one of the following certification requirements:
- Hold a current AWS Certified Welder credential or documented welder qualification for steel under AWS D1.1 – Structural Welding Code–Steel; or
- Possess a MIG steel welding certificate or diploma from an accredited technical school, vocational institution, or recognized welding training program.
Applicants must provide a legible copy of their welding certification when applying or present the original certification during the interview process. The certification must clearly identify the welding process and material covered. Original or independently verifiable documentation may be required before employment. Applicants who cannot provide proof of the required certification will not be considered for the position.
All selected candidates must also successfully complete Magic Tilt’s on-site practical weld test.
Primary Responsibilities- Interpret drawings and plans to understand project specifications.
- Produce templates and other work aids.
- MIG weld steel parts and frame materials used to construct boat-trailer frames.
- Perform welding in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Operate powered saws, hand shears, portable grinders, hand files, scrapers, and related fabrication tools.
- Use precision measuring tools to inspect grooves, angles, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Inspect completed welds and conduct applicable weld-quality tests.
- Maintain welding equipment and report equipment requiring repair.
- Follow all company safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Minimum of one year of MIG welding experience.
- Current steel MIG welding certification as described above.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to read drawings, plans, measurements, and work instructions.
- Ability to use welding fixtures.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a production team.
- Ability to stand for most of the workday.
- Ability to regularly handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk, bend, reach, squat, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Must wear steel-toed footwear, protective eyewear, hearing protection, and all other required personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to work in an open manufacturing environment that may include loud noise, outdoor conditions, inclement weather, and extreme heat.
