Starting Salary: $145,000 - $185,000; depending on experience

Position Overview:

The Project Manager leads and oversees multiple fast-paced mechanical construction projects from initial planning through completion. This role involves estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with internal and external teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The Project Manager also supports business development efforts and mentors Project Engineers within the Special Projects Group. Key Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of project estimates, scope development, proposals, safety planning, and execution, modeling integrity, accountability, and pride in the quality of our craft.
• Ensure projects meet or exceed profitability goals while delivering impactful, forward-focused solutions that support clients’ long-term success.
• Apply knowledge of mechanical systems to support cost analysis and value engineering, turning complexity into clarity for clients and teammates.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure designs are complete, clearly defined, and aligned with project budgets, acting as a united UMC team.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, considering their perspectives in every decision and creating long-lasting partnerships.
• Review estimates prepared by team members and develop project budgets with transparency and precision.
• Estimate and negotiate changes to project scope or costs with integrity, fairness, and focus on mutual value
• Monitor and report labor hours and material expenses, providing timely, clear updates that support predictable project outcomes.
• Coordinate the purchase and delivery of major equipment and subcontracted services, staying nimble and proactive to keep work moving efficiently.
• Maintain a clear understanding of project contracts, scope, and specifications, ensuring alignment with client expectations and company standards.
• Ensure documentation is organized and compliant with company and contractual standards, upholding accountability and professionalism.
• Partner with field supervisors to plan and schedule project activities, fostering trust, clarity, and collaboration across the entire team.
• Promote and ensure jobsite safety in alignment with company safety standards, prioritizing and modeling safety above all else in every decision and action.
• Communicate proactively and clearly with all team members, demonstrating respect, transparency, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Represent UMC’s values in all interactions, showing professionalism, inclusivity, and a positive, people-first approach.

Supervisory Responsibility:

• Mentor and supervise project engineers on the special projects team, empowering their growth and modeling leadership by example.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• At least one year of experience as a Project Manager or three years as a Project Engineer.
• Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems.

Required Licensing and Other Certifications:

• Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
