This role offers an opportunity to drive sales growth for engineered pump and process equipment across a diverse industrial territory. You’ll work with manufacturers, municipalities, and commercial organizations where reliable fluid-handling solutions are critical to operations. The position combines consultative selling, technical understanding, relationship management, and complex deal execution. You’ll engage directly with engineering, maintenance, facilities, operations, procurement, and plant leadership to identify opportunities and demonstrate measurable business value. With sales cycles that can involve sophisticated applications and multimillion-dollar contracts, success requires strong project management and strategic negotiation skills. This is a highly autonomous role for an experienced industrial sales professional who enjoys building long-term customer relationships and spending significant time in the field.
- Drive business development and regional sales of industrial pump and process equipment across the assigned Midwest-Great Lakes territory.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with process engineers, maintenance leaders, facilities teams, plant managers, purchasing professionals, operations leaders, and other key decision-makers.
- Identify customer needs involving the movement of liquids, semi-solids, wastewater, waste, and other industrial materials, and recommend appropriate equipment solutions.
- Develop consultative sales strategies that demonstrate how new equipment can reduce operating costs, improve quality, increase efficiency, and address operational challenges.
- Manage multiple opportunities simultaneously across different stages of the sales lifecycle, from initial prospecting and technical discovery through negotiation, closing, and follow-up.
- Lead complex sales processes and negotiate high-value contracts, including multimillion-dollar equipment opportunities.
- Work closely with customers and internal technical teams to understand applications and develop effective solutions.
- Build and maintain a strong regional pipeline through prospecting, relationship development, customer visits, and strategic account management.
- Provide regular market, customer, competitive, and sales feedback to senior management to support business strategy.
- Travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, with approximately 75% travel expected.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, combined with a proven record of successful consultative industrial sales experience, including strategic selling and negotiation.
- 3–5 years of experience working within a mechanical or electrical engineering environment.
- Demonstrated success selling to industrial customers and influencing decision-makers across operations, quality, business units, product development, procurement, and engineering.
- Experience selling equipment or solutions involving fluid movement, pumping systems, industrial processes, or related technologies.
- Specific experience with electrical submersible pumps and electrical control panels is preferred.
- Strong understanding of technical sales processes and the ability to translate customer operational challenges into commercially valuable solutions.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, presentation, negotiation, and consultative selling skills.
- Strong project management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple complex sales opportunities and lengthy sales cycles simultaneously.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote field-based role with significant regional travel.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Western New York.
