We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team and play a key role in ensuring our products and processes consistently meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Undertake a range of diverse tasks which serve to maintain and improve product quality, the quality management system and the efficiency of the company’s manufacturing processes. Work effectively and efficiently with both colleagues and external partners (incl. customers and suppliers) and where appropriate, demonstrate mastery in the use of quality-based tools or methodologies in order to accomplish these tasks.

POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities as required for new products or product changes (incl. IMDS, PPAPs, P-FMEAs, control plans etc.)
  • Lead customer complaint management (to include investigations, action planning and tracking, customer communication etc.)
  • Liaise with customers to address quality-related concerns, or improvement/change requests they might have in relation to product quality.
  • Support customer product testing and re-testing as required, including liaising with external contractors
  • Working together with other departments, provide support in relation to supplier management activities (e.g. complaints, supplier approvals, supplier evaluations, supplier audits, supplier quality meetings etc.).
  • Provide leadership and support to resolve issues or deliver continuous improvement in relation to the plant's quality control and/or assurance systems, processes and procedures
  • Support the decision-making in relation to the disposition of non-conforming product, including liaising with customers to request deviations
  • Drive continuous improvements in product quality or quality-related cost reduction by using appropriate tools and methods (e.g. Six-Sigma, statistical analysis, control charts, P-FMEA etc.) and with the support of other departments
  • Support the Quality Technicians in the accomplishment of their tasks through training, or by providing support or expert advice
  • Utilise appropriate tools and methods (e.g. MSA) to assure the testing capability of the relevant employees within the Quality Department
  • Create training material and conduct training of employees on quality tools and methods
  • Undertake tasks to maintain and improve the quality management system, including the control of documents which belong to the QMS
  • Conduct internal QMS audits as either lead and/or co-auditor
  • Support and where appropriate lead the preparation for and hosting of external visitors (including suppliers, customers and third party auditors)
  • Through the demonstration of appropriate behaviours and actions, help to promote a quality culture among all employees
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in engineering (preferred) or scientific discipline
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in quality engineering or other relevant quality management roles in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the use of APQP tools (e.g. IMDS, PPAPs, FMEAs, control plans etc.)
  • Experience in the use of problem solving tools (e.g. 6W2H, Ishikawa, Why-Why, 8D report etc.)
  • Work experience in the nonwovens industry preferred
  • ISO 9001 internal auditor certification or experience as an internal QMS auditor using ISO 9001 preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Possess a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lead and influence and others
  • Strong organizational skills and able to effectively manage priorities
  • Intermediate computer and math skills
  • Intermediate skills in the use of statistical tools
  • Ability to operate laboratory testing equipment
  • Ability to work in a hot/cold manufacturing environment, which can include standing and/or sitting for the duration of the task
  • Ability to transport or move up to 50lbs. of material.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as determined by production needs
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for short periods at a time
