Job Description

Newton Village, a Cassia community, is hiring a Scheduler/ Staffing Coordinator to join our team in Newton, IA. As a Scheduler/Staffing Coordinator at Newton Village, you will organize and schedule appropriate clinical department coverage, including the master schedule, daily schedule and scheduling replacements for shifts. You will also be working on the floor to provide care to our residents. The ideal candidate is a dependable, compassionate team member who enjoys supporting residents and working collaboratively with others. CNA or CMA certification is preferred, along with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

Position Type: Full-Time, benefits-eligible position. Work approximately 15–20 hours per week as the Scheduler/Staffing Coordinator, with remaining hours spent providing resident care and filling in on the floor.

Shifts Available:
Day: 6:00 am - 2:00 pm

Location: 110 N 5th Ave W, Newton, IA 50208

Scheduler/ Staffing Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the nursing department schedule and ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
  • Develop and maintain the master schedule, daily staffing schedule, and coordinate replacement coverage for open shifts.
  • Interview candidates for open CNA and HHA positions.
  • Track continuing education and required training programs for staff.
  • Monitor attendance and complete disciplinary action documentation as needed.
  • Provide hands-on resident care and floor coverage during scheduled hours, including assisting with activities of daily living and other CNA/CMA duties as applicable.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing staff to ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and consistent care.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
Scheduler/ Staffing Coordinator Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years prior staffing/scheduling experience required.
  • CNA or CMA preferred.
  • Must have flexibility in scheduling including on-call hours.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
