PURPOSE OF POSITION: Provide direct support to the printing process to ensure the quality of the product while maintaining above average production rates.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Know and follow all SAFETY procedures.
*Assist the press operator in preparing the printing press for operation.
*Gather inks, stock, and plate cylinders
*Fit bushings, gears, and side to side compensator on cylinders
*Load set-up film on to the press
*Unwrap and tape down plates
*Check ink viscosity as per ink sheet
*While the press is running, perform general maintenance around the press area. *Prepare pre-make ready for the next work order.
*Assist the press operator in the changing of plate cylinders, anilox rollers, fountain rollers and blade assemblies. Operate a hoist device for the installation and removal of cylinders, rollers and blade assemblies.
*Remove old ink, stock, and plate cylinders from the previous printing job. Clean the old plates with solvent and remove the plates from the cylinders. Clean the dock pans of old ink and change hoses and pumps if needed.
*Assist the press operator in observing the web to ensure quality of print.
*Assist press crew as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EDUCATION REQUIRED:
*Able to follow directions and effectively function as part of a team.
*Mechanical aptitude.
*Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
*Good color acuity.
*Good problem-solving ability.
*Basic math skills.
*High school education or its equivalent preferred.
Working Hours
Production positions work 12 hour shifts with hours of 6am-6pm. The schedule consists of working two days, two days off, and every other weekend (Friday – Sunday) for a total of 7 shifts every two weeks.
