Job Description

Primary Function: The Accounting role is responsible for managing and reconciling the Credit Union’s financial accounts, ensuring accurate recording of transactions, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and assisting with loan and payment system balances. This includes preparing reports, reconciling general ledgers, processing daily transactions, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and accounting standards. Regular attendance is an essential job function.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years of general accounting experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other software; comfortable with financial systems.
  • Strong written, verbal, and basic math skills.
  • Positive, adaptable, and able to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Self-motivate and proactive in contributing to team and organizational goals.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform/assist in obtaining account activity and balances from Corporate Accounts and other Financial Accounts the Credit Union is a member of.
  • Verify and book all necessary items.
  • Determine the funds required for the upcoming settlements and transactions.
  • Assist in the month-end process by balancing dividends payable and fine-tuning MHL and FHLB.
  • Assist in balancing and reporting on ITM, Zelle, etc
  • Assist in student loans, mortgage loans, and participation loan balancing.
  • Set up amortized loan fees/expenses on the loan record in accordance with FASB 91; home equity, and other loans.
  • Process Day’s work, wires, liens & levies, and return checks.
  • Prepare various accounting forms and spreadsheets and/or letters.
  • Reconcile general ledgers as assigned, prepare reports and reconciliation of corresponding general ledgers, listing outstanding items, and distribute to appropriate departments/personnel.
  • Assist in the process of reporting for Credit Life & Disability.
  • Keep the Accounting Manager informed of any issues.
  • Perform the yearly Dormant Account Process.
  • Must inform Accounting Manager of any issues.
  • Back up duties of other employees in the department.
  • Maintains information confidential.
  • Must follow all ACFCU’s policies and procedures. Maintain knowledge of all state and federal regulations that apply.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
