Construction Project Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Construction Project Coordinator supports the planning, startup, and execution of assigned industrial construction projects, project schedules, procurement, staffing, mobilization, documentation, and other operational activities. The position may also perform designated project management responsibilities under the direction of the Senior Project Manager.

This position serves as a key link between sales, preconstruction, project management, and field operations to support the safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review potential projects from an operational perspective and support estimating and proposal activities by identifying anticipated labor, equipment, materials, scheduling, site conditions, and other execution requirements.
  • Identify licensing and permitting requirements for potential and assigned projects, verify the company’s ability to meet applicable requirements, and communicate additional requirements, lead times, and constraints to appropriate personnel.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules in Microsoft Project based on contractual milestones, project scope, and execution requirements.
  • Determine project requirements for materials, equipment, tools, and staffing.
  • Obtain supplier pricing and availability and coordinate procurement activities by preparing purchase requisitions in accordance with company procedures.
  • Coordinate with project execution teams to establish staffing requirements and mobilization timelines.
  • Coordinate project startup activities, including turnover meetings, schedule development, procurement planning, staffing coordination, and project documentation.
  • Perform designated project management responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Project Manager, including client communication, schedule coordination, procurement, cost tracking, subcontractor coordination, change documentation, and project closeout.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, clients, and internal personnel.
  • Support timely and accurate project invoicing.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to other personnel as appropriate.
  • Support other departments and perform additional duties as business needs require.
  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with PNP business practices, policies, procedures, and core values.
  • Exercise independent judgment in coordinating project planning, scheduling, procurement, and resource allocation within established company policies and procedures.
  • Escalate issues that may affect contract scope, project cost, schedule, safety, quality, or overall project performance to the Senior Project Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant industrial construction experience in project coordination, project management, field supervision, or project execution.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or managing welding-focused industrial construction projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in creating and maintaining project schedules using Microsoft Project.
  • Working knowledge of HRSGs, pressure parts, and balance-of-plant systems sufficient to support project planning, procurement, scheduling, and field execution.
  • Working knowledge of industrial construction equipment, tools, and tooling.
  • Working knowledge of nondestructive examination (NDE), construction quality requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
  • Working knowledge of welding procedures, welder qualification requirements, and welder performance testing.
  • Working knowledge of applicable ASME, NBIC, and other industry codes governing industrial boilers, pressure vessels, piping, and related construction activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce a visually acceptable fillet weld in the flat position, demonstrating a practical understanding of welding processes and field construction practices.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and accountability.
  • Strong verbal skills and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Understanding basic industrial construction disciplines and their respective roles and responsibilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, field personnel, and internal departments.
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices.

Travel and Remote Work:

  • Travel (50%) is required on an as-needed basis to support project and business requirements.
  • A company vehicle will be provided for authorized business travel.
  • Eligible for up to two (2) remote workdays per week in accordance with applicable ISS/PNP policies.
  • This position requires work in both office and industrial construction environments. Work may include time at project sites and other industrial or field locations based on project requirements.
  • Employees are expected to comply with all applicable company safety policies, project-specific safety requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work safely in industrial construction and field environments.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb, bend, kneel, and maneuver around construction equipment and jobsite conditions.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to safely perform or observe welding and other industrial construction activities.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
