Position Overview:

Ready to make an impact? Good Earth Tools is seeking a detail-driven Buyer to ensure we have the right materials at the right time. This position will be responsible for procuring machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and services essential to the operation of our manufacturing shop, including the acquisition of raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished products to support production needs.

Responsibilities:

· Monitor the buyer report and material hold lists daily and identify purchasing needs.

· Provide purchase orders daily for all materials needed to keep the shop operational and on schedule.

· Purchase non-stock consumables for machine-shop, vending, maintenance and janitorial use.

· Research potential vendors for new and existing products.

· Obtain quotes and compare pricing and lead time to meet deadlines and margins.

· Update internal databases with order details such as ship dates or discounts and add correspondence about issues with the products or vendors, to the purchase order.

· Evaluate quotes from vendors and negotiate better pricing when necessary.

· Set up new vendors and maintain vendor database.

· Review past-due purchase orders weekly and update the promised date in the database.

· Follow-up with suppliers to confirm on-time delivery as the due date approaches.

· Work with accounting and update/approve discrepancies on invoices.

· Contact vendors with invoice discrepancies and track credits and returns.

· Collaborate with Quality Control on non-conforming products and lead in vendor resolution.

· Communicate with production and engineering to pre-purchase long lead time items.

· Be a liaison between the shop floor, quality team, shipping department, engineers, customer service and vendors.

· Maintains flexibility to support changing production schedules, customer requirements, and operational priorities as necessary.

Requirements:

· High school diploma or equivalent is required.

· Solid understanding of supply chain procedures is preferred.

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is critical

· Excellent organizational skills are required and must have the ability to prioritize emergency requests.

· Experience in purchasing, procurement or material handling in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

· Maintain a professional, positive, can-do attitude and thrive in a team environment.

· Must be an excellent multi-tasker and have the ability to be responsive to changing demands.

· Must have the ability to work a minimum of 40 hours as scheduled and maintain a punctual, reliable attendance record.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, stoop, walk, reach, push, pull, grasp, read, and write. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

This is an in office position in our Festus, MO headquarters.
