REPORTS TO: Front of House Manager

CLASSIFICATION: Part-time, over-hire, non-exempt
WORK SCHEDULE: Show specific, generally Tuesday-Sunday, evening and holidays required

COMPENSATION: $24.25 per hour

Berkeley Repertory Theatre (Berkeley Rep) has grown from a storefront stage to an international leader in innovative theatre. Known for its ambition, relevance, and excellence, as well as its adventurous audience, the nonprofit has provided a welcoming home for emerging and established artists since 1968. Over 6 million people have enjoyed more than 500 shows at Berkeley Rep, including 85 world premieres. POSITION SUMMARY

Concessions Staff enhance the guest experience by providing efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable service before performances, during intermissions or events, and after performances. Through exceptional hospitality, attention to detail, and adherence to health and safety standards, team members collaborate to support revenue goals and maintain a clean, organized concessions operation.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an emotionally intelligent, observant, and outgoing team member. The best candidate will be someone who takes initiative, loves talking to new people, and enjoys the fast pace of food service. Someone with knowledge of food service standards and bartending experience is ideal, but training is provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide Radical Welcome by greeting guests, answering questions, and processing concession orders.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of concession offerings, including snacks, beverages, pricing, and promotions.
  • Prepare and serve beverages according to portion standards, and responsible service practices.
  • Maintain accurate pour amounts and product consistency for all beverage services.
  • Operate point-of-sale systems and credit card transactions accurately.
  • Stock, organize, and replenish concession inventory before, during, and after events.
  • Maintain clean and organized concession areas, storage spaces, and service stations.
  • Follow all food handling, sanitation, and health code requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to supervisors.
  • Assist with opening and closing cleaning procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure efficient service during high-volume periods.
  • Contribute to a welcoming, safe, and positive environment for guests and team members.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest needs, operational updates, and communications from supervisors and team members.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Must be over 21 years old
  • Responsible Beverage Service certification preferred.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety standards.
  • Ability to learn product information, pricing, and service procedures.
  • Basic point-of-sale experience preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and responsiveness to communication.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, and stock concession supplies as needed.
