Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Garage Door Commercial Installer to install, service, and repair commercial dock and door equipment at customer sites across Virginia and North Carolina. This role requires weekly overnight travel and is ideal for a self-motivated technician who enjoys working independently on the road and takes pride in quality, safe workmanship.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel weekly to job sites across Virginia and North Carolina, including multiple overnight stays
  • Install, service, and repair commercial sectional and rolling/coiling doors
  • Install and service specialty doors, including high-speed, fire-rated, and counter shutters
  • Install and service dock equipment, including levelers, seals, shelters, and vehicle restraints
  • Read and follow job drawings, specs, and manufacturer instructions
  • Troubleshoot and repair operators, controls, and safety devices
  • Coordinate with dispatch and project managers on schedules, work orders, and materials
  • Inspect job sites and report installation needs and safety concerns to the office
  • Safely transport materials and equipment to job sites
  • Work safely on active job sites, ladders (8–24 ft), and lifts (up to 40 ft)
  • Operate forklifts, welding equipment, and power tools
  • Complete job paperwork, safety documentation, and expense reports accurately and on time
  • Follow all company and job site safety requirements
  • Remove and dispose of old equipment and materials
  • Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and the office
  • Keep vehicles, tools, and work areas clean and organized
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening
  • 5+ years of experience installing, servicing, and repairing commercial dock and door equipment.
  • 5+ years of welding experience related to commercial dock and door systems.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. and climbing ladders
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage assigned jobs
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship

Travel & Work Location:

  • Territory covers Virginia and North Carolina, with weekly travel to customer sites across both states
  • Travel typically departs early in the week and returns by end of week, depending on project schedules
  • Ability to work weekends as needed to meet project deadlines
  • Some emergency on-call after hours as needed
