POPULATION SERVED

The position does involve direct patient care for a population of patients ages 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise are required to serve this population.

POSITION SUMMARY

The ultrasound technologist provides diagnostic ultrasound services to patients.

JOB DUTIES

DIRECT PATIENT CARE

· To perform and complete diagnostic ultrasound procedures accurately.

· To give patients an explanation of procedures to perform & acquire appropriate consent forms and paperwork

· To follow radiation safety protocol at all times.

· To provide care appropriate to the age of the population served. INDIRECT PATIENT CARE

· To complete assignments on time and utilize time effectively.

· To support cost containment efforts of the Medical Center through conservation of supplies and care of equipment.

· To clean examination rooms and other supporting equipment. COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

· To work at establishing good rapport and working relationship with all staff.

· To complete the appropriate documentation.

· To communicate in English in patient care areas.

· To report any unusual occurrences, situation, or hazards to appropriate personnel.

· To report any malfunctioning of equipment. SAFETY

· To demonstrate knowledge of safety, infection control, and emergency policies and procedures.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

· To participate in quality improvement activities. ADHERENCE TO CORE VALUES

· To incorporate CORE values into a daily routine. ADHERENCE TO HOSPITAL/DEPARTMENTAL PROCEDURES

· To adhere to the general hospital/departmental policies as they pertain to dress code, safety, Timekeeping, and attendance.

· To comply with mandatory meetings, health evaluation, CPR certification, and other credential requirements.

STANDARD OF CONDUCT

· Conduct all activities in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. These Laws pertain to such areas as abuse, antitrust, employment discrimination, environmental fraud, false claims, lobbying, and political activity, self-referral prohibitions, and tax.

Employees must act in good faith in our organization’s best interests.

· Maintain the confidentiality of patient information, and protect confidential and proprietary information about associates and our organization.

· Conduct activities and relationships with others so as to avoid an actual conflict of interest, in fact, or even appearance. In the event of conflicts, associates must make full disclosure and take appropriate action under the Hospital’s Conflict of Interest Policy.

· Conduct business transactions with suppliers, contractors, vendors and other third parties at arm’s length, and without offers of or solicitations for gifts, favors or other improper inducements.

· Exercise responsible stewardship to preserve and protect our organization’s assets by making prudent and effective use of its resources.

ETHICS AND COMPLIANCE

· Develop and maintain an environment of respect and value.

· Communicate any legal or ethical violations or concerns to appropriate personnel or Corporate Compliance Officer immediately.

· Will not retaliate against any employee and report retaliation to appropriate personnel immediately.

· All other duties as assigned

Requirements: POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification. At least one- year experience in diagnostic ultrasound in a hospital setting required. 3- 5 years experience in a hospital setting preferred.
