Role Description
Accountable for leading and directing the daily activities of the assigned functions of the distribution center. This role will emphasize and demonstrate the importance of consistent and timely communication within and between departments while ensuring the seamless flow of materials and resources to support the needs of the facility. This role requires a hands-on approach to leadership that sets the pace and standard for success and serves as a role model for the team.
Primary Responsibilities
· Safety – Supports a culture of Safety 1st throughout the facility by delivering safety instructions, training, and follow-up ensuring compliance with established safety procedures and OSHA requirements. Monitors and ensures a clean, neat and orderly work environment for all associates applying 5S principles.
· Quality – Leads with a commitment to total internal and external customer satisfaction. Consistently delivers the correct product, in the correct quantity, in the appropriate condition, at the expected time.
· People – Recruits, identifies and develops talent both internally and externally to build a strong talent pipeline within the facility and organization. Consistently administer and enforce company/facility policies and procedures. Understand, instill, and grow the Schluter Culture among team members. Always represent self and Schluter Systems L.P. in a professional and positive manner.
· Operations – Leads, plans, and directs the daily activities of a team of associates to support the efficient operation of assigned areas of the warehouse, including but not limited to receiving, put away, replenishing, picking, packing, shipping and inventory control. Develop effective working relationships with internal and external departments enabling coordination and communication activities and workflow with other departments to ensure facility goals are achieved.
· Continuous Improvement – Applies and fosters a lean and continuous improvement mentality in all aspects of the operations. Generate, investigate, and support continuous improvement initiatives and actively engage associates in the process while developing a culture of sustained excellence
· Complete other duties as assigned
Requirements:Required Skills and Abilities
· College degree preferred.
· Five plus years of warehouse experience with at least two in a leadership role leading front line associates
· Customer focused mentality
· Demonstrated understanding of warehouse processes and workflow
· Experience in cultivating a Continuous Improvement environment. Lean experience a plus. Strong team problem solving skills
· Proven ability to identify, motivate and coach a team to achieve department and facility goals
· Strong ability to learn and use warehouse management tools and software (ERP/MRP/WMS) systems to support daily operations.
· Competence in using computer equipment including Microsoft Office suite products
· Strong work ethic with a demonstrated commitment to doing what is right
· Familiarity with and ability to use a wide variety of material handling equipment, including but not limited to electric and liquid propane forklifts, order pickers, and walkie riders
· Must be capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time
· Must be able to multi-task and shift priorities easily
