About the Position
Glynlea Country Club is seeking a skilled and dependable Landscape & Grounds Technician to help maintain the beauty and presentation of the Club’s landscaped areas and surrounding grounds. This role focuses on the care of trees, shrubs, flower beds, turf areas, and other outdoor features throughout the property.
The position includes hands-on landscaping work such as planting, pruning, mulching, edging, weed control, irrigation maintenance, and seasonal projects. Job purpose
The Landscape & Grounds Technician is responsible for maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the Club's exterior grounds and recreational areas. This role helps ensure the property is well-manicured, member-ready, and maintained to Club standards.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain lawns, landscape beds, common areas, event lawns, and other exterior grounds through mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, mulching, and general landscape maintenance.
- Trim and maintain hedges, shrubs, ornamental plantings, and landscape areas to ensure a neat and well-manicured appearance.
- Maintain sidewalks, curbs, parking areas, walkways, and other common areas by removing litter, debris, weeds, and other items that detract from the appearance or safety of the property.
- Maintain pickleball courts, tennis courts, and surrounding recreational areas.
- Perform pressure washing, curb painting, spider-web removal, and other exterior cleaning and appearance-related tasks as needed.
- Install and remove windscreens, seasonal décor, and other exterior items as assigned.
- Safely operate commercial landscaping and grounds equipment, including mowers, trimmers, edgers, hedge trimmers, blowers, utility vehicles, and pressure washers.
- Perform routine equipment inspections, report maintenance needs, and maintain clean and organized equipment and storage areas.
- Identify and promptly address or report safety, maintenance, or appearance concerns throughout the property.
- Interact professionally with members and guests and maintain a positive, team-oriented approach.
- Take ownership and pride in the appearance of the property, paying attention to detail and addressing issues when they are identified.
- Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, Facilities team, and other Club personnel to support the overall appearance and successful operation of the Club.
- Follow all Club policies, procedures, safety requirements, and member service standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience operating commercial landscape equipment preferred.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with limited supervision.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Working conditions
Work is primarily outdoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying golf balls.

Physical requirements
Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitors and develops subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write, and read member communication.
Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 60 lbs., up to 50 lbs. frequently. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting, and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting.
Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golf's Club Director of Agronomy. Following his assessment of the situation, he will determine if he or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings, and/or prohibited from using scaffolding.
Use the following safety precautions when using an 8ft. ladder:
- Correct placement of the ladder. The safest angle for a straight ladder is to ensure it is placed on-fourth the distance from the base to the point of support. “A” frame ladders naturally comply.
- Ensure the ladder is placed on a firm level surface, and do not place the ladder near a doorway.
- Ensure there are non-skid shoes on the ladder.
- If using a medal ladder, be sure that it is not near electrical wires.
- One person on a ladder at one time and ensure another staff member is holding the ladder in position.
- Never overreach.
- Ability to consistently lift, carry and load adaptive and other sports equipment that may weigh 50 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes
