Role summary: The Senior Manager, Industry Relations is the first RIS Rx face a manufacturer sees. The role opens doors at pharmaceutical manufacturers, explains what RIS Rx does and how it relates to the contact's brands and programs, listens for where the pain is, and secures a first meeting and a first data conversation. From there this role brings in a VP, Business Development to go deep and steps back. The scope is deliberately narrow: open the door, hold the first meeting, land the data ask, and hand off cleanly.

This role is built for someone who has worked inside the industry and knows how manufacturer teams are organized: a medical science liaison, a field access or reimbursement liaison, a specialty representative, a hub or patient services lead, or a mid-level market access or trade professional who is at their best in a room and on a conference floor. It is a senior individual contributor seat with a direct line to commercial leadership, and it is the entry point into the RIS Rx commercial organization, with a path into business development or client success.

Responsibilities

  • Open doors: Build and work a target list of patient services, market access, trade, and finance contacts at the manufacturers the CRO names. Generate first meetings through pre-booked conference meetings, warm introductions from clients, consultants, founders, and the board, and direct outreach that is short, specific to the contact's brands, and free of hype: one relevant point, one ask.
  • Hold the first meeting: Explain what RIS Rx does in plain terms, connect it to the contact's brands, programs, and vendors, and listen for the pain: what they cannot see, what they suspect is leaking, and what they are measured on. Leave with a clear read on fit and an agreed next step.
  • Land the data ask and hand off: Where there is fit, secure agreement to a first data conversation and the right people for it, then bring in the VP, Business Development of record. Make the introduction warmly, set up the meeting, and transition the relationship rather than running discovery alone.
  • Keep relationships warm: Stay visible with contacts who are not ready yet: conference check-ins, relevant market news, and a note when something changes on their brands. Log every touch in HubSpot the same day.
  • Represent RIS Rx on the conference floor: Own the team's conference presence: the pre-booked meeting calendar set four to six weeks out, the meeting-room schedule, and follow-up within 48 hours of the event.

Scope boundaries

This role does not run discovery alone, present pricing, build proposals, or own a deal. Once a VP, Business Development accepts the handoff, the Senior Manager supports as asked and otherwise moves to the next door. Pipeline this role opens is credited to it at handoff; the VP, Business Development owns it from that point forward. Variable compensation is tied to meetings held and handoffs accepted, not to bookings.

Measures of performance: Targets are set in the annual plan and reviewed quarterly.

  • First meetings held per month with Director-level and above contacts at target manufacturers
  • Meetings that convert to an accepted data conversation
  • Handoffs accepted by a VP, Business Development
  • Pre-booked conference meetings secured and held
  • Outreach response rate and relationships kept active
  • Same-day HubSpot logging on every touch

Required experience and skills

  • Four or more years inside the pharmaceutical industry in a field-facing or manufacturer-facing role: medical science liaison, field access or reimbursement liaison, specialty sales, hub or patient services, market access, or trade.
  • Working knowledge of how manufacturer commercial teams are organized and who owns copay programs, patient services, market access, trade, and GTN.
  • Presence: warm, credible, and at ease with Directors and VPs; explains a technical service in plain language; listens more than talks; asks the question that finds the pain.
  • Comfortable on a conference floor and with cold or lightly warm outreach, with a record of getting meetings.
  • Writes short: three to five sentence emails with one ask.
  • Disciplined with HubSpot and follow-up; a self-starter who manages their own calendar and target list.
  • Willingness to travel regularly for conferences and planned visits.

Preferred experience

  • PharmD, PhD, NP, PA, or another clinical or scientific credential common to MSL and field liaison roles.
  • An existing network of patient services, market access, or trade contacts at manufacturers.
  • Exposure to copay programs, hubs, specialty pharmacy, or patient assistance programs
  • Experience at a hub, copay vendor, specialty pharmacy, or pharma services firm in a manufacturer-facing role.
