Senior Engineering Technician in Clifton Springs, New York at GW Lisk Company Inc

Overview:

The senior technician must be capable of assembling and/or testing a variety of electro-mechanical-hydraulic products to aerospace standards while meeting customer quality and on‐time delivery schedules. He/she shall work closely with engineering to set-up and perform a variety of tests designed to demonstrate product compliance with customer and industry standards. Highly detailed and clear communication is critical. The ability to work autonomously with minimum supervisory guidance is required.

Specific Duties:

• Performs complex assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, mechanical/electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.

• Sets up complex test equipment on a variety of products to measure and record valve or system conformance to test specifications. Sets up test stands with appropriate plumbing for hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, and cryogenic tests from required product test specifications.

• Verifies accuracy of test stand and set‐up prior to testing, making necessary adjustments to attain specified test results. Trouble shoots and resolves most set up problems independently.

• Conducts tests using pneumatics and a variety of aerospace hydraulic fluids.

• Conducts tests using data acquisition equipment and interprets/records test results on data forms. Uses X‐Y recorders, oscilloscopes, transducers, and other related equipment. Identify malfunctions disclosed by test data, and communicates the malfunction to the engineering and/or operations team. Verifies new production assembly and test procedures and recommends processes to achieve desired results.

• Performs diagnostic teardown and rebuilding of product, including evaluation of suitability of components, according to customer specifications.

• Produces and inspects assemblies that conform to product specifications. Assembles and tests to customer and/or industry standards.

• Reads engineering drawings, engineering orders, assembly routes, test specifications, customer requirements, and quality directives.

• Interfaces with support functions to solve product problems and conduct work according to business contract.

• May perform inspection tasks as required to gather dimensional values, utilizing high resolution measuring instrumentation.

• Observes all safety rules and maintains a foreign object damage (FOD) free work area. Ensures all equipment is calibrated in accordance with calibration schedule.

• Prepare detailed written reports of tests conducted.

• Domestic travel may be required occasionally to support off site tests.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED, +5 years’ experience in a related field.

• Able to read simple drawings: Use scales, calipers and simple measuring instruments. Work requires assembly of a wide variety of regular and special purpose parts. Considerable judgment and decisions is needed to follow clearly defined standard work procedures and practices.

• Ability to use basic hand tools such as wrenches, ratchets and screwdrivers.

• Strong attention to detail required.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Ability to communicate and work with cross functional teams.

Compensation: $24.00 - $32.00 per hour based on experience
