Regional Sales Manager, Key Account Management (KAM) West US

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Regional Sales Manager, Key Account Management (KAM) West US based in United States.

This leadership role drives regional growth, market share, and commercial performance across the Western United States within the life sciences and biotechnology markets.
You will lead and develop a high-performing Key Account Management team responsible for a broad portfolio of scientific and research solutions.
The position combines strategic sales leadership, customer relationship development, forecasting, performance management, and commercial execution.
You will work closely with customers, sales leaders, internal teams, and cross-functional organizations to create partnerships and identify new growth opportunities.
The role also provides coaching and leadership development, helping sales professionals strengthen their effectiveness and build long-term careers.
You will represent the organization at industry events and engage with key accounts to position innovative solutions that support scientific discovery.
This is a remote opportunity requiring significant field engagement across the Western U.S., with substantial ownership of regional sales strategy and results.

Accountabilities:

The Regional Sales Manager will lead the Western U.S. account management organization, combining strategic planning with hands-on field leadership to achieve sales targets, strengthen customer relationships, and expand market presence.

  • Drive regional growth and market share through effective planning, performance management, and development of the Western North America Key Account Management team.
  • Achieve regional sales targets and broader business objectives by building and maintaining a high-performing, field-based sales organization.
  • Lead the team in selling a comprehensive portfolio of life sciences and research solutions across priority market segments.
  • Represent the organization at industry events and facilitate account manager engagement with customers and strategic accounts.
  • Coach account managers on relationship building, account strategy, portfolio positioning, and commercial opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and partner organizations to develop solutions that exceed customer expectations and generate demand for new technologies.
  • Champion standardized sales processes, continuous improvement practices, and digital tools to drive sustainable commercial performance.
  • Provide accurate weekly sales forecasts and manage daily quote approvals.
  • Identify strategic growth opportunities through participation in product development initiatives and continuous improvement events.
  • Coach and develop emerging sales leaders through proactive problem solving, performance management, career conversations, and trust building.
  • Partner with commercial education leadership to support onboarding and upskilling programs using adult learning principles.
  • Use performance metrics and KPIs to identify gaps, develop countermeasures, and improve team effectiveness.
  • Spend approximately 60% of working time in the field engaging with sales representatives, leadership, and customers across the assigned territory.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced life sciences sales leader who combines strong commercial expertise with demonstrated success developing field-based teams. You should be comfortable using data to drive performance, coaching sales professionals, and building strategic customer relationships across complex scientific markets.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related Life Sciences discipline.
  • At least 7 years of successful industry-related sales experience within life sciences, drug discovery, biotechnology, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing or mentoring members of a sales organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high-performing field sales teams.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, leadership development, and common sales methodologies.
  • Ability to support the development of both individual contributors and people leaders across a commercial organization.
  • Proven ability to use metrics and KPIs to identify performance gaps and implement effective countermeasures.
  • Strong communication, coaching, relationship-building, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Willingness to reside within the assigned territory, preferably in Seattle, San Francisco, or Southern California.
  • Ability to spend approximately 60% of working time traveling within the territory to meet with customers, sales representatives, and leadership.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Knowledge of funnel management, plate readers, high-content imaging, cellular automation workflows, and 3D biology is a plus.

Benefits:

  • Remote work arrangement from a home office within the Western United States.
  • Base salary range of $140,000–$160,000 annually.
  • Eligibility for Sales Incentive Compensation (SIC).
  • Target total compensation of $240,000–$260,000 annually, combining base salary and target SIC.
  • Sales incentive earnings may exceed or fall below the target based on individual performance.
