Facilities Technician
Department: Warehouse Operations
Reports To: Warehouse Manager / Warehouse Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Employment Type: Full-Time/ Open availability required (between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

Position Summary

The Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and organized environment throughout the Brothers Food Service facility. This position performs routine cleaning, sanitation, housekeeping, and general facility support activities throughout warehouse areas, offices, restrooms, breakrooms, loading docks, exterior grounds, and parking areas while ensuring the facility remains clean, organized, safe, and operational. The Facilities Technician plays a vital role in supporting employee safety, food safety, operational efficiency, and maintaining a professional workplace environment.

Essential Functions

  • Clean and sanitize assigned areas throughout the facility, including warehouse areas, offices, restrooms, breakrooms, conference rooms, common areas, and other designated workspaces.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of exterior areas, including entrances, sidewalks, loading docks, parking lots, dumpster areas, and landscaped or green spaces.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, wipe down, and disinfect surfaces using approved cleaning products and equipment.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste in designated collection areas.
  • Restock restroom, breakroom, and janitorial supplies to ensure facilities remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Maintain an organized janitorial storage area and properly store cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies.
  • Complete assigned daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning schedules and sanitation checklists to ensure all assigned areas meet company cleanliness standards.
  • Identify and report facility maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, supply shortages, safety hazards, or sanitation issues to supervision.
  • Follow all company sanitation procedures, food safety requirements, OSHA regulations, and workplace safety policies.
  • Safely use janitorial equipment, cleaning chemicals, and required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support facility improvement projects, deep cleaning activities, inspections, audits, company events, and other general facility support tasks as assigned.
  • Work independently while maintaining productivity, attention to detail, and quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, sanitation, porter, facilities, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb stairs, reach, twist, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and excellent attendance.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen in accordance with company policy.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship by Brothers Food Service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing, industrial, foodservice, or refrigerated environment.
  • Knowledge of proper sanitation procedures, cleaning chemicals, and safe chemical handling practices.
  • Experience maintaining janitorial supply inventories and cleaning equipment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA workplace safety standards and food safety sanitation practices.
  • Experience performing general facility support or minor maintenance tasks preferred.

  • Knowledge of proper cleaning, sanitation, and housekeeping procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize daily assignments and effectively manage time independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Ability to identify sanitation concerns and facility issues and report them appropriately.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective verbal communication and teamwork skills.
  • Dependability with excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, food safety, cleanliness, and professionalism.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged standing and walking throughout scheduled shifts.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, climbing stairs, and repetitive movements.
  • Ability to safely operate standard janitorial equipment and use approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the workday.
  • Wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work Environment

The Facilities Technician works throughout the Brothers Food Service facility, including warehouse areas, offices, restrooms, breakrooms, loading docks, exterior grounds, parking lots, and common areas. Employees may be exposed to warehouse traffic, moderate noise levels, cleaning chemicals, varying indoor and outdoor temperatures, refrigerated work areas, and changing weather conditions. Strict adherence to workplace safety, food safety, sanitation standards, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

Schedule Expectations

This position may require morning, evening, or overnight shifts and may include weekends, holidays, overtime, and schedule adjustments based on operational needs. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to successful job performance.
